Hi, Maryana. Nice new article. I just fixed an issue you should be aware of. In this edit, you added a second definition of a named reference "NoonanNechemias2001". This one was to pages 22–23. But there was already a ref named "NoonanNechemias2001" that was to p. 251 and this caused the new one to be collated with the prior one; see here; both showing as p. 251. I fixed this by giving them unique names. However, when there are many such disparate references to the same work, it is better to use a referencing system such as {{sfn}}.
I hope your edit-a-thon went well; I tried helping various pages and participants during it. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 21:21, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help! I need to read up on this sfn thing, because this article is going to require a lot of referencing to different pages of the same books, and I'm reaching the outer limits of my novice Wikipedia citation system (as you can tell by my dumb mistakes :-P). I'll try to tackle reference formatting later this afternoon. Feel free to jump in too, of course! Accedietalk to me 21:54, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- You need to read my contribs. I do an awful lot of this. I did make two further edits. If you're going to be citing many different pages of the same books, {{sfn}} is /the/ way to go. That also means this hybrid is not going to be right for this article; see this way for the path forward. Some more robust examples:
- Nikita Khrushchev
- Richard Nixon
- Neville Chamberlain
- Pedro II of Brazil
- Amundsen's South Pole expedition
- William McKinley
- Assassination of William McKinley
- Lynching of Jesse Washington
- Chinese Indonesians
- Sudirman
- Sitti Nurbaya
- Adolf Hitler
- George Went Hensley
- SMS Blücher
- Yogo sapphire
- I'll stop now…

- Is it better now? It was kind of a pain to reformat, but it looks much nicer now, I think! I even got up the courage to nominate it for DYK :) Accedietalk to me 00:13, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
- Better, and betterer. The re-work goes easier when you've done a bunch. I've done hundreds; many of the ones above, for example. And I've taught this system to many who've run with it. {sfn}/{sfnRef} works well with articles primarily sourced to paginated sources. For things sourced primarily to things on the web, using the WP:LDR system is usually best. You can do hybrids, as diff'd above, when the sources are mixed.
- fyi, links to gBook previews usually rot; they are pretty arbitrary and capricious about what they will actually serve over time. You can use full urls with {sfn}, but it can clutter the article prose in the same way inline citation templates do. To sort that, use another hybrid: ref-tags in LDR form containing {{harvnb}} using links on the |p= parameter ;) the urls are then out of the prose. I don't do that much but there are examples somewhere. Let me know when you need to learn this. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 00:38, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, again; We've an issue with recent edits to the article. There's an invalid ISBN on a work sourcing new content. Often this is an easy fix, but there are many editions of The Russians, and I'm not going to just drop in an ISBN I can find. The discussion is at:

Mind the Gap Award | ||
Thank you Maryana for not only lending a hand with the Edit-a-thon this past weekend, but for your great work at Feminism in Russia and beyond. Thanks for minding the gap! Sarah (talk) 21:40, 18 June 2012 (UTC) |
Thanks
For your help copyediting William T. Anderson a few months back, it was just promoted to features status today. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I didn't ask for any copyediting help on the last article I brought to FA--it was about a lynching and was a pretty disturbing read. Probably one of the few articles that has no chance of being TFA. Hope things are going well with you, how's the weather in San Francisco? Mark Arsten (talk) 05:22, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- Congrats again, Mark! I actually did read Lynching of Jesse Washington – I was looking at examples of {{sfn}}-formatted references so I could improve an article that I was working on – and you're right, it was interesting but horrifying. (As for TFA... I mean, we did have The Human Centipede on the main page, so you never know.)
- Anyway, just let me know if you ever need another pair of eyes/hands on your next big project! And if you have a minute, I'd love your opinion on Feminism in Russia. I'd like to take it to GA at some point, and your expertise and improvements would be greatly appreciated :) Accedietalk to me 02:54, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, glad to hear that you read it. I'm shifting away from the horrifying stuff for a little while, writing about new religious movements now. There are quite a few people out there who claim to be Jesus, that's for sure. I'll make sure I read Feminism in Russia, that is an interesting topic. Mark Arsten (talk) 03:55, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- (love the mind the gap, above;)
- Hi, the latest makeover to {sfn} is Nansen's Fram expedition, which will be on the main page, next. It's a good read and more eyes on it while it's on offer to the anyones is goodness. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 15:05, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, I left some comments about Feminism in Russia. Not surprisingly, it was a pretty well written article :) Mark Arsten (talk) 20:07, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
GOCE July 2012 Copy Edit Drive
Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their July 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on July 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on July 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to eliminate the articles tagged in April, May and June 2011 from the queue and to complete all requests placed before the end of June. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 6 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in April–June 2011", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa and Stfg. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. So many pictures of Kirk, but none of them shirtless? That's just false advertising for the Original Series. Anyway, I was always more of a Spock girl. I was even Spock for Halloween two years back! Black hair dye sure does take a long time to wash out... Accedietalk to me 03:25, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

New project
Hi Accedie, I've been working on a new project, Marshall Applewhite. Any chance you'd be up for some copyediting on it? You might enjoy the article, if only for the pictures :) Mark Arsten (talk) 03:42, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- I was going to say if there's no Spock, but then... Good job! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:46, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, the pictures really made me laugh. I'm open to a different picture from Revelation, I couldn't find a good one of the two witnesses though. The martyrs under the flying alter kind of looked like a spaceship so I figured that was good enough. Mark Arsten (talk) 13:51, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ahahahaha... wow. Next you'll be finding clever ways of inserting Star Trek images into Civil War history articles (now that would be impressive!). Of course I'd be happy to take a look and see what I can do. And thank you for your comments at Talk:Feminism in Russia – much appreciated! Accedietalk to me 18:43, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

- Oh, oops, sorry – didn't mean it that way! Of course the article will pass FAC. I have full faith in you :) Accedietalk to me 05:20, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Paul McCartney FAC
You were referred to me by User:Mark Arsten as someone who certainly has the skills needed, and who may be willing to help out with some prose and punctuation issues at Paul McCartney, which is also currently at FAC. Thanks, hope this isn't a bother. ~ GabeMc (talk) 04:16, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Gabe – sure, I'd be happy to help out! I probably won't have time to get to this till tomorrow night or Saturday, though, if that's okay. Good luck with all the FAC stuff! Don't forget to sleep :-P Accedietalk to me 05:25, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

- Also, today User:DCGeist, made a comment at the FAC claiming that the article currently has poor comma usage. I'm baffled. Any thoughts? Suggestions? ~ GabeMc (talk|contribs) 00:52, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Happy to help out – I actually haven't had as much time to go through it as I would have liked, because I'm on vacation with family and stealing bits of Internet where I can :-/
- As for the commas, I noticed that in the sections I worked through, I was correcting a lot of extra commas that were separating two or more dependent clauses. For example, in a sentence like, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog and ran down the road," you don't need a comma to separate "jumped over the lazy dog" and "ran down the road," but if the two clauses can stand apart as complete sentences (e.g., "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog, and he ran down the road," where "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" and "He ran down the road" can each be their own sentence with their own subject and verb), you do need the comma. Just one of those grammar rules that confuses everyone. I'll try to comb through and tidy those up when I can! Accedietalk to me 01:39, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks fo the tip, and the edits. I am really getting hammered at the FAC. I am about done I think. ~ GabeMc (talk|contribs) 01:49, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to hear :( What I really don't get about FAC (and why I'll probably never try to go through it myself) is the detailed reviews pointing out the 23492352 grammar & spelling mistakes in the article... when it would have probably taken the reviewer less time to just fix those issues themselves. That just makes me angry. What ever happened to WP:BOLD and WP:SOFIXIT? Anyway, hang in there! You've put a ton of work into this thing, and it looks so much better now than it did before! Accedietalk to me 01:56, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know, then they ride you for weeks on end while never intending to support no matter what you do. Thanks for the help editing. Copyedit request
Seeing how Mark trusts your copyediting skills, could you give ? a pre-FAC lookover? Not too long, only 14k characters or so. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:25, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Any friend of Mark's is a friend of mine :) I'd be happy to, with the caveat that I'm living out of a suitcase and hopping from one Internet hotspot to another for the next two weeks, so my Wikipedia time is a bit haphazard at the mo. Accedietalk to me 01:50, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Don't worry, there's no big hurry. The FAC for Chinese Indonesians is stagnant ATM. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:07, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- Done for now. Nice article (and awesome title, of course). It was already pretty well-written overall, though there were a couple of spots in the plot summary and Themes and style sections that were somewhat ambiguous – what denomination is the church that's bombed, and does Soleh survive or not (unclear)? Irwansyah writes that Bramantyo intends for viewers to think of the religious conflicts that happen daily, and how to deal with differences in culture and beliefs, while Bramantyo has called it his own personal interpretation... ...does the last clause mean "Bramantyo has called it [Irwansyah's review] his own [Irwansyah's] personal interpretation" or "B has called it [the film] his own [B's] personal interpretation"? Those pronoun/antecedent shuffles can be deadly! Accedietalk to me 21:58, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the copyedit! I fixed a small mistake you made (changed the wording, but didn't get rid of the parentheses). I also fixed the stuff you indicated. (Pretty good film, although you'd probably have a hard time getting a hand on the DVD; subtitles have decent English as well). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:04, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, thanks for all your help on Marshall Applewhite, much appreciated. I think it's almost FAC ready. I had another copyeditor go over it today (he picked it up from the GOCEreq page) and he made a few changes I disagreed with so I ended up reverting a bit of it. Hopefully I didn't take out any of your's at the same time, it's tough when there are intervening good and bad edits and you have to sort through it. Thanks, Mark Arsten (talk) 04:28, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Feminism in Russia
On 8 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Feminism in Russia, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that in spite of the official Soviet ideology of gender equality, feminism continues to be a dirty word for women in Russia? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Feminism in Russia. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

- I second the barnstar and replied to you here. Doing A/B testing of templates is horrible work for volunteers and those welcome templates have long needed thoughtful consideration, so thanks for recognizing that and making it happen. I think the warning templates also need work and if you move to those I would like to participate in talks about them as well. My view is that vandalism is good because it is a route by means of which new users may be engaged, and I would like to see an integration to some extent of welcome and warning processes as they are both initial contacts. Say what's up to Steven for me. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:14, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
An illustrative point
Last week I made joke about editing when it doesn't bother me. This is a case in point. The images on this article have been static for the last five years.
Today someone decides to remove the images because of concerns about fair use. I restore the images to the articles and ask the editor to talk it out. At the same time the other editor elevates the issue by posting the two images above to Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2012 July 17. Is this a big thing? No. Is it a great and weighty matter? No. Is it a source of conflict? Yes. Multiply this a few times and its the kind of thing that drives people away. Fix the way fair use images are dealt with and a great source of conflict could be eliminated. Thanks for listening. --evrik (talk) 20:40, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey
Hi Accedie, thanks for your help with Marshall Applewhite a few weeks back, it passed as an FA in what may have been the easiest and quickest FAC ever. I thought I'd mention my new project while I'm here: I just expanded Ruth Norman. She's similar to Applewhite in some ways, except she was a harmless lady who never poisoned or castrated anyone. Help copyediting would be greatly appreciated, but if you don't have time, be sure to do an image search for her--she was quite the fancy dresser. Thanks, Mark Arsten (talk) 04:29, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Holy bouffants and scepters, Batman!! At least one of those images better be CC licensed or fair use at the very least. Fingers crossed.
- Marshall must have been a quick FAC because everyone was too busy reaming you on RfA. Oh wait, except the opposite of that ;) Of course, I'll be happy to give Ruth a looking over. Accedietalk to me 16:49, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, between the promotion and the Rfa pretty much everything went well then. Hopefully things stay that way for a while. I'll probably go for a fair use image, but it's hard to pick. P.S. Quite the mess on ANI tonight, things seem to have settled down by now though. Mark Arsten (talk) 03:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks for the copyedit on Ruth Norman, great work, as usual. The article is coming along well, I think. I'm always amazed at the things I miss when I try to edit my own writing :) I just watched one of your talks from Wikimania (saw the link on Ironholds' page). That was a fascinating session, would have been great to be there. I had seen pictures of you and Stephen, but everyone else on the panel looked and sounded nothing like I expected. Funny how that happens! Mark Arsten (talk) 04:49, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Ha, yeah, that was a really great session, and I was definitely thinking of you when I mentioned the whole social connections/community-building onwiki thing. Folks like you and Crisco aren't just awesome content contributors; you're general all-around nice people, and you inspire me to be a better Wikipedian :) If only we could clone you and spread you around to every new person coming in! Editor retention problem = solved.
- Anyway, happy to help with Uriel, and let me know if you need any more assistance in getting her to the Next Level(tm).Accedietalk to me 06:13, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

GA Nomination
You recently nominated Feminism in Russia at WP:GAN. While the article shows promise, the [citation needed] tag in the "Feminism in Soviet society" will have to be resolved before it can be passed as a Good Article. Per WP:CITE, all quotations should be accompanied by a citation. maclean (talk) 01:21, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Should probably be pretty easy. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:22, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, good catch! I didn't add that quote to the article and didn't notice it was missing a ref, so I'll have a look and see if I can track it down. I've substituted in a different quote/ref for now and am also going to add the appropriate citation to Smith for that Soviet anecdote, which appears to be missing a ref also. Accedietalk to me 01:47, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Done - I think the new quote I found is better, actually :) Accedietalk to me 01:59, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
And I see it passed. Congratulations. I'm glad you took on the new citation mechanism. It will serve you well. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 03:26, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
I doubt you've missed these stories. See
and skip right over the drama-llama bits. These are going to be getting some attention and I hope you can spare some time to participate. The simple version of this is TK is a user I've had disagreements with and this might damp-down the llama. If you do want to peek at the immense llama in the room, see here (and then flee for your life;).
I was User:The Call of the Wild for a bit and that user page design is an adaptation of {{new user bar}} which originates in an outreach program you may know. and you know about their promoting interest in snakes, right? Over 8,000 users, it seems. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 03:26, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

in line citations on Kim Annette Robertson page
Thanks for your help Accedie. I'm stumbling through this. I am hoping you can help me make my corrections. Ms. Robertson live here in my town and we are very proud to have an Olympic level athelete in our midst. I have interviewed Ms. Robertson and this is were I have obtained the information about her life and sport.
Creating this page about her has been trial and error. I have know idea what I am doing and I must read and read to figure out the formatting process or what ever you call it. I am a computer and Wikipedia dummy. I feel she is worthy of being on Wikipedia and would like to make the page right. I hope you may help me. Thanks so much. A barnstar for you!
The Special Barnstar | |
Hi Accedie (Maryana)! I wanted to thank you for the great and important work you have done both on Wikipedia and at the Wikimedia Foundation! It's because of editors like you that make Wikipedia an awesome place to be by giving your time and helping in various ways which makes you a true Asset to the project . I wish you all the best for your future work and life! Hope to see you around soon :) Regards and Happy Editing! TheGeneralUser (talk) 18:50, 26 August 2012 (UTC) |
- Aw, thank you so much! What a nice surprise :) Accedietalk to me 06:04, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
- If there was another appropriate and better barnstar or award i know that i could give it to you, I would have done that indeed because a nice and awesome Wikipedian like you deserves the best for all of your good work you do for the community! :) TheGeneralUser (talk) 20:28, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi Accedie :). Hope you're doing good! I recently came around this article Bagatayam Waterfall and i think it currently does not meet the basic minimum requirements for a Wikipedia:Stub. The article only has a external link to flicker website of a picture and a external map link. There are no other reliable sources and references. If possible can you have a look at it and see what can be eventually done ? I believe your help will be invaluable . Regards. TheGeneralUser (talk) 20:18, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- It looks like User:Yngvadottir cleaned it up and added some references, so it's in decent shape for a stub now. I tagged it with the WikiProject Philippines assessment template, so hopefully some of the folks from there will come in and expand/improve it :) Accedietalk to me 02:14, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

How was Wikisym? Protonk (talk) 17:50, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Haha, yeah, I used your userpage in my slide deck to illustrate the quantitative "author metric" (GA & FA stars) in action. That's what you get for publishing under a CC license :)
- WikiSym was good! You should've submitted your AFT talk; would've fit right in. It'll be colocated with Wikimania in Hong Kong next year, so you should definitely consider submitting a paper. Accedietalk to me 20:36, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'll submit a paper and talk for next year. Just need the rest of the v4 data. already poked Siko about it. Do me a favor and bother some folks on my behalf! :) Protonk (talk) 02:36, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Thank You
Thank you for that, I will keep adding and upgrading my Article's, Im aiming to have every Article up for all Organized Crime Organizations.

- Very cool! You should join WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography. I bet some of the people there might be able to help you out with these articles. Ciao, Accedietalk to me 23:13, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
How exactly do you join it? Shall I need to write to a member of it.
JoeyZasa11 (talk) 23:20, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, you can just go here to the members list and sign your name at the bottom (like you do on talk pages, with the ~~~~). You can also add this template: {{User CB}} to your userpage, which will produce a nice userbox :) Feel free to use the WikiProject's talk page to ask any questions you may have about crime-related articles. And if you need help with editing in general, the Teahouse is a great place to get help from other Wikipedians. Good luck and happy editing! Accedietalk to me 23:29, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Spock...
is not here. Could I pester you to take a look at Andjar Asmara in preparation for an FAC nom after Oerip Soemohardjo is done? Couldn't find much biographical information on him, so it's quite short. Regarding the feminism GA, you may find yourself interested in Andjar's wife. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- There is a very offcolor joke to be made here about Spock and teasing, but I'm going to keep this talk page classy! Sure, I'll take a look. Happy to help out if I can. Accedietalk to me 21:02, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, I took a pass & did a little prose prettifying. The word "work(s)" is hard to avoid in any discussion of a dramatist/filmmaker, but I'd recommend being specific when possible to avoid overusing it. Also, "Andjar was born with the name Abisin Abbas..." sounds a bit awkward to me. How about just: "Was born Abisin Abbas..."? Other than that, a good read! I'll definitely have to take a look at Ratna Asmara now, too :) Accedietalk to me 21:44, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Shame there aren't enough sources on her to get her article to GA or FA. The Indonesian Wikipedia doesn't even have an article on her :-S — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:36, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Copyedit?
Hi Accedie, I'm trying to get meth mouth up to featured status, and I would love if you could do any copyediting. Feel free to ask for a favor in return, thanks Mark Arsten (talk) 17:50, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- 1) Congrats on Ruth Norman! 2) Eeeeewwwwww, that picture! I might have to copy the article into a text editor and work from there, just so I don't have to look at it :-/ I'll take a stab, though (... which would be a good pun if this were a heroin-related article. "I'll take a hit?" Doesn't quite work.) Accedietalk to me 02:53, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's terrifying. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:22, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- lol, thanks for putting up with me and my bizarre interests :) The good thing about this article is that it always reminds me to brush my teeth (and not do meth). I appreciate the copyedits to the article, it's fairly short so it will need to be very polished at FAC. I've got a guy from the medicine wikiproject doing a PR, so hopefully the science end of it will hold up too. Mark Arsten (talk) 13:37, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's hard to do a thorough copyediting job without knowing the proper science lingo. I can, however, really help you out should you ever choose to work on anything parasitology related. I worked for a parasitologist as a summer job in college (I collected ticks in the backwoods of Mississippi; that's how I came to write Tick dragging) So, I'm not thaaat squeamish :) Accedietalk to me 04:00, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Beatles RfC
Hello Accedie; this message is to inform you that there is currently a public poll to determine whether to capitalize the definite article ("the") when mentioning the band "THE BEATLES" mid-sentence. As you've previously participated either here, here, or here, your input would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. For the mediators. ~ GabeMc (talk|contribs) 22:45, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the copyedit. The article passed FAC, which is nice to see; this is easily my shortest FA so far. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:16, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
- Gah, and my longest lag in talk page response time! Congrats! Love seeing more culture & film articles reach FA; I work in technology, but I'm a humanist at heart :) Accedietalk to me 22:48, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

will.i.am
So, do all WMF staff members get to hang out with will.i.am, or is it just Jimbo that does? Mark Arsten (talk) 02:38, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I did some work with WikiMedia Indonesia and I met John McGlynn... once. Damn camera's batteries were dead. The big honcho gets to hang out (read: meet) with Ucu Agustin. Nia Dinata, and Christian Sugiono as well. Ah... — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:58, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- But have you met Fred Burks? He seems like an interesting fellow, knows a lot about translating Indonesian too. Mark Arsten (talk) 13:17, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- No, actually. Mind you, that link you sent me isn't working. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:21, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

- Jimmy's not staff! He's on the Board, which is a separate entity from the Foundation :) The only cool star sighting I can claim so far is Richard Dawkins, who showed up to the tenth anniversay party in London that I happened to attend. (Of course I was too much of a wuss to actually talk to the guy.) It's not all glitz and glamor, I'm afraid. Accedietalk to me 16:12, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Huh, I didn't realize that about the board and the foundation... interesting. That's pretty cool that Dawkins showed up at the party, I don't imagine that he's the most approachable fellow though. Oh, BTW, who keeps changing the edit box view? I find that kind of irritating, but I guess I'm just one of those change-resistant Wikipedians. Mark Arsten (talk) 17:19, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Edit box view – guilty (well, not me specifically, but one of our designers. Discussion about it here). Change is always a little jarring at first, but I'm pretty happy with the new cleaner presentation. We had countless new users telling us they couldn't even find the save button under all the policy cruft down there. Just wait till the visual editor comes out next year. That should be... interesting ;) Accedietalk to me 21:49, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess it is a bit cleaner, no biggie. I hadn't thought of it that way. Mark Arsten (talk) 04:01, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest.
