Vandalism?
[edit]I've just noticed that IP 93.97.39.182 left a message at 19:19 on User talk:Marek69 using my name. Can you help? Denisarona (talk) 19:30, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
It's possible that the same IP is also User:Craticus - see revision history of Marek69. Denisarona (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

State Bank of Mauritius
[edit]There's some vandalism occurring on State Bank of Mauritus. User: Deepakanandd has twice removed the contents of the article and substituted for it info on a court case involving the bank. I have twice reverted them, and will continue to do so, but don't know the protocol for warning them off or blocking them. Will revert should Deepakanandd persist. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 13:13, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- A standard vandal warning template would have been okay, but I suspect that text is copyrighted, so {{Uw-copyright}} might be more appropriate. If they persist after being warned, you can report them either to an administrator or to AIV. Acalamari 13:28, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Miranda Cosgrove's Bus crash
[edit]I am in no way attempting to vandalize her wiki page. I just think it is important information to the public and her fans to know that not only was she injured, her mother and bus driver were injured too. and i had sources saying the rest of the tour was in fact cancelled, rather than postponed. And I believe that the public deserves to know that on her wiki page. GeisterXfahrer (talk) 20:15, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi. 2 editors User:Deepeshraj1 and User:Mustihussain appear to be conducting an edit-war over the above article and using my talk page for their acrimonious dispute. Can you help?? Denisarona (talk) 09:45, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
- If you don't want to be involved in the dispute at all, you can either ask everyone to stop posting to your talk page about it or just remove the section altogether. As for the dispute itself, there is a discussion on the article's talk page and another editor is wanting all parties to stop reverting each other, though if the reverts continue the page can be protected if it becomes necessary. Acalamari 11:05, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

In a Situation
[edit]Hi, im in a situation, my first account is named Brexx, i got blocked one of those days because i was not familiar with the rules of wikipedia, i was new, i didn't know much, but i meant well........now i am a very experienced editor and only add reliable information with reliable sources and revert vandalism from other users.......i asked numerous times in the brexx account to be unblocked, but nobody listened to me....i admit i should have not created a new account, but i did it only because i forgot my password for the brexx account, and it says here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Contact_us/login_problems, that:
If you entered and confirmed an email address when you created your account, you can have a new temporary password sent to you using the "Email password" button on the login page. (If you happen to remember your usual password, you can still use it.)
Otherwise, you can create a different username with a new password.
But the second account i created, they also blocked me, so i created another one etc, and they keep blocking me again and again..........i beg to be given a second chance, i was never given one, it says here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/GreekWarrior#Community_bans_and_second_chances that :
1) Users who exhaust the community's patience, repeatedly engaging in disruptive behavior, may be banned upon community consensus. However, banned users with prior productive edits who believably repent of their previous behavior and promise to edit constructively may be readmitted under restriction.
so, please....i do edit constructively now, but this user Kww is so stubborn and not giving me another chance........all what im doing now is correcting wrong information and adding sourcing them appropriately..........
For instance look at the some of the reliable info i added to some articles, and look, kww reverted all of them:
In Fireball article, i archived the All Access source, so users can see the radio adds date:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fireball_%28Willow_Smith_song%29&diff=prev&oldid=457695520
and he reveted it....
In Y.U.Mad , i added the Urban and Rhythmic radio adds date with archived sources,
and he reverted it.....
In Pass At Me, the radio release was pushed up, i updated and added archived sources..
he reverted it...
In You The Boss, i added the Urban radio release date, and added archived sources for both Rhythmic and Urban...
he reverted it......
In Don't Waste Your Time, i added the earliest release date, which is November 16, 2007, and added sources for each country it was released in in......and i removed the false unsourced U.S. and netherlands dates......
he reverted it.....
So, as you can see my goal is not to vandalize, my goal is to make wikipedia a better place.........as you can see from the above edits, all im doing is contributing correct information and reliable sources...so, i don't see why i can't get another chance........i don't want to keep going from account to account, from ip to ip...........i just want a second chance...as i think Kww hate towards me is a personal attack ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.42.241.69 (talk) 21:58, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've blocked 24.42.241.69 as yet another proxy abused by Brexx in his latest round of socking. What's one more? 23 accounts and proxies in the last nine days. If you seriously look at this, take a look at Prettybeautifulnailsalon (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and note that after all this time, he still can't get an image properly uploaded or refrain from edit warring. 68.62.240.86 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is pretty fascinating as well: even while Prettybeautifulnailsalon was editing undetected, he just couldn't resist using anonymous edits to support the account.—Kww(talk) 23:43, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for handling it, Kww. 23 socks in 9 days is a lot! I have to admit I was surprised to receive a message from Brexx, as I didn't think they ever used talk pages. Thanks again. Acalamari 13:39, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Rollback Request
[edit]I am wishing rollback rights, as I normally take ages to check things. I usually edit others mistakes and delete or rewrite copied material. I also think I should get rollback rights because it would help me so much in reverting mistakes. Thank You --David. S 06:31, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there, Dssis1. Unfortunately, in a review of your recent edits there were very few reverts for me to review to judge how well you would use the rollback feature. I recommend practicing with the undo feature for a few days to revert vandalism, and then come back to me after several reverts for me to review you again (or you can re-request at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Rollback). In addition, I would like to note that rollback is for reverting vandalism or spam, not for reverting mistakes, which should be corrected if possible or reverted with an explanation. Hope this helps. Best. Acalamari 10:35, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

- Hi The Emirr, the fact the image contains swearing is not a rationale for speedy deletion in itself. Instead, the proper place to discuss the image to see if it should be deleted or not is Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Best. Acalamari 22:53, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
RE: Italics
[edit]The italics in the article for Slant Magazine was a mistake and has been corrected. Judging from the note about magazines should be italicized (Template:Album ratings), it implies that only for magazines, since it does not have a similar note for "online music services" like Allmusic. The convention that I noticed when I started editing was italics for print works and none for online-only publications. This principle was once noted in WP guidelines on italics or titles, somewhere, but may have been changed, since I can't find it anymore. But it draws a clearer line in what work should be italicized to me; how is Allmusic any less of a webzine than Slant?, both have articles, reviews, editorial content, etc. If so-called online magazines or webzines should be italicized, then every work/reviewer would end up being italicized. That's my reponse. Dan56 (talk) 23:58, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Me troll not
[edit]I am not a troll why not to type it in gaps?--Islamocid (talk) 16:48, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- If you don't understand why your edit in the Barack Obama talk page was perceived as trolling, you probably should consider contributing to Wikipedia in some other language than English. You'll find the Tatar version of Wikipedia at tt.wikipedia.org - Tournesol (talk) 16:56, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- In Russian WP I am blocked forever for racist comments and vandalism :-( I copied part of your Userpage to mine if You re not against!--Islamocid (talk) 16:59, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- How do you consider this a productive comment in improving the Barack Obama article? Even if you weren't intentionally trolling, the comment is still highly unhelpful at best. Acalamari 17:22, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I m sorrry, you!re right. But I see nothing insulting in word Negro which means jusr "black'--Islamocid (talk) 17:30, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- There are parts of the world where it is offensive (in both countries where I have lived I've always known it as offensive, regardless of its meaning), but offense/disruption notwithstanding, including the word in the Barack Obama article is pointless: it is not used in the Wikipedia articles of other African-Americans or black people living in countries outside the US, and so there is no need to include it in the Barack Obama article either. Acalamari 17:42, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
Rollback question
[edit]Hi Acalamari. I would like to ask a little question regarding the rollback rights: would it be correct to revert page/section blanking with Rollback? Thank you very much. »εϻαdιν ΤαΙk Ͼδητrιβμτιoης 15:27, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hey EmadIV, it does depend on the circumstances: if someone blanks an entire page, using rollback would be acceptable. With section blanking, if someone blanks a section full of sourced content without any explanation, rollback would be okay to use in that instance; but if someone blanked a section full of unsourced content, I would not use rollback (the edit may not be vandalism, but rather, an attempt to get rid of unsourced material). I hope these guidelines help. Best. Acalamari 15:38, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

- Well, according to the counter you've made 19 articles overall. However, they are all stubs, although all except for City West Water have sources: you may want to expand those articles and added more content and sources to City West Water before requesting the autopatrolled userright. - Hey there Fuhghettaboutit, thanks for the note about removing AroundTheGlobe's rollback rights; I do appreciate it, and more so than usual due to the length of time since that admin action. Best. Acalamari 23:14, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Unsourced
[edit]Acalamari! Happy New Year! ;)
I have a question, which noticeboard do I go to, regarding an editor and them adding unsourced content to an article? I have asked the editor, kindly, to add a source in with their edits - instead I get this on my talk page, and this in the article's edit summary, and they ignore my request. I undo their edit on the article; warn them. They revert my edit on their talk page, fine if they read them, but undo my edit on the article, claiming it's "blatant vandalism". Acalamari, is there a specific noticeboard, for this case, and or future ones I come accross? Thank you, -- MST☆R (Happy New Year!) 13:04, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Happy New Year to you too, MelbourneStar! :D {And congratulations for being the first to post to my talk page this year. ;)}
- As far as I'm aware, there is no specific noticeboard for the addition of unsourced content. However, in cases like this, if you can't come to an agreement, WP:ANI may be the best place to make a report. Hope this helps. Acalamari 13:14, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- There needs to be an Unsourced Content Noticeboard! :)
- Anyway, The editor has added sources, so I won't be too hasty in making a report, barring their PA. But I shall use it for future references..
- And an honor it is to be the first. All the best for 2012. Regards, -- MST☆R (Happy New Year!) 13:20, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Edits [2] suggest another sock of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ItHysteria. Cheers, 76.248.147.199 (talk) 12:41, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi 76.248.147.199! As I have not heard about this sockpuppeteer until now, I'm not certain about making a block here. While the recent rush of edits Danrivera has made to 30 Seconds to Mars-related articles could be a concern (as are the unsourced BLP edits I had to revert, and their talk page is not encouraging), most of the rest of the edits from the account appear to be towards other topics. The account also goes back over a year, but in all fairness, socks have lasted that long before. Would you mind shedding more light on the behavior of ItHysteria socks? Thanks. Acalamari 12:56, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've no deeper insight or experience into this, just connecting dots the from the recent IP edits [3], back to the 'IT' account. The Mars edits appear to involve a non-existent cat. Thanks, 76.248.147.199 (talk) 13:07, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you [4]; I was just thinking the same thing, but don't like to hop from one administrator to another. Much appreciated, 76.248.147.199 (talk) 13:45, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, I'm glad we were on the same page. :) Oh, and don't worry about admin-hopping if you're in need of help on something: it's not normally a problem unless the intent is to forum-shop (which was not the case here). Acalamari 13:53, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Restoring edits by anonymous Italian IPs on 30STM articles is a dead giveaway. Blocked.—Kww(talk) 13:50, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- PS: His other edits may have been on different articles, but they are in reference to 30STM members.—Kww(talk) 13:50, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Kww, I'll keep all of this in mind for the future. Thanks also to you 76.248.147.199 for making me aware of this to begin with. Acalamari 13:53, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- A virtual toast to you both...on second thought, it's too early for that. I like to wait until 10:30 AM, at least. 76.248.147.199 (talk) 14:03, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Page deletion
[edit]hey why did you delete my no dada no kkr page?/ there were reliable sources from many a leaing journals so why the deletion?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virinchi523 (talk • contribs) 05:19, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- After reviewing the content, deleting the page was an error on my part, as it did not meet the criteria on speedy deletion, and especially not the one I specified. Sorry about this. To give you time to work on your article, I have restored it to User:Virinchi523/NO DADA NO KKR. Best. Acalamari 10:32, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- could you please assist me on which phrases do you find in-appropriate in my no dada no kkr page?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virinchi523 (talk • contribs)
- I didn't find any of it inappropriate: my deletion was made in error, so I restored the page. The person who deleted the page I restored for you is a user called Fastily; you may want to talk to them instead. Acalamari 10:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

A request to block 98.192.45.21
[edit]IP adress 98.192.45.21 keeps undoing my work on the Amir Mansour article. I have spent a lot of time on the article and Im getting very fustrated about that he keeps deleting my stuff, over and over again. It is so anoying. And there is nothing wrong or false in about what Im writing. Please block the IP adress.
Im getting very angry and fustrated about my work being deleted.
David-golota (talk) 00:18, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- This looks like a content dispute. It has been several hours since either of you last edited the page, so it would be inappropriate to make any blocks or protect the page. I suggest starting a discussion on the talk page. Acalamari 11:07, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
Hello Acalamari, can you delete the old versions of the above file please? Thanks, — Legolas (talk2me) 03:52, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Oops
[edit]Apparently, I conflicted with you while protecting Mr. T. I thought that indefinite protection might be best, given that a previous 1-year protection failed to halt the vandalism. However, feel free to restore your protection or tell me to restore it. Cheers! Reaper Eternal (talk) 17:10, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- I pity the fool who overrules me...I mean, we had a protection conflict, and I have no objection whatsoever to your protection replacing mine. :) Acalamari 17:15, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
WP:RFP for Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese) and its talk page
[edit]Please help with this request (permalink). I'm too involved with the purported sockpuppet case to be an impartial admin to take the decision. Deryck C. 20:31, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Deryck, I answered the requests. I had to decline both of them because I do not think there is enough disruption at the moment to justify protecting either of them. Acalamari 22:39, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you! (Over-zealous editors trying to hunt and demolish any editor they think looks like User:Instantnood has been a long-standing problem on the English Wikipedia, especially among editors interested in the topics of Hong Kong and China. As one of the few Hongkonger admins here I find myself but too involved in this issue.) Deryck C. 22:54, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
