Welcome!
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions so far. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.
Here are some links to pages you may find useful:
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- Tutorial
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- Simplified Manual of Style
You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:
- Create new pages and rename pages
- Edit semi-protected pages
- Upload images
- Have your own watchlist, which shows when articles you are interested in have changed
If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (193.129.127.20) is used to identify you instead.
I hope that you, as a new Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or you can to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).

[edit]Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Tommy Elphick, but you didn't provide a reliable source. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Infobox dates
[edit]Hi, when updating infobox stats you should update the |club-update=
or |pcupdate=
parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update=
or |ntupdate=
parameter for international stats, by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 19:11, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Infobox dates, again, and again
[edit]If you change the stats, you need to change |club-update=
to match, so that the reader can see when the stats are correct at.
What's the point of bringing Sone Aluko's stats up to date as of 19 January 2019, yet leaving the infobox saying "correct as of 21:14, 3 May 2018"?
Thank you for listening. Struway2 (talk) 15:02, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Transfermarkt
[edit]Hello. Please don't use Transfermarkt for your stats updates. Its content can be user-generated, so isn't reliable for use on Wikipedia. Most stats tables for footballers playing in England use Soccerbase for their Premier League/EFL stats, as do those for e.g. Chris Gunter, where I've replaced Transfermarkt with the appropriate Soccerbase page. Thanks for listening, Struway2 (talk) 10:51, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Infobox club-update parameter
[edit]Hello, and thank you for remembering to update the as-of date when you update infobox stats. Please would you set it to a date or date/time actually after the last match included in the stats, rather than the bare date on which the last match was played. If you just use |club-update=21 September
, neither the reader nor any potential updater of stats can tell whether it's up-to-date as of before, during or after the match played on that date.
The easy way is to use five tilde characters, which generates the date-and-time as of when you update the stats: so
|club-update=~~~~~
will generate
|club-update=11:06, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
when saved.
Or if you prefer using a bare date, please use the date of the day after the last match included. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 11:06, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Callum Jones (footballer, born 2001). It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did with this edit to Harvey Vale.
