Admin coaching

Hi, Midorihana. I was wondering if you'd want to go for admin coaching with me and User:Moonriddengirl. She's not coached anyone before, so she'd like to co-coach with me, and you seem like a really good admin candidate. If you think you're not ready for coaching, or feel that you can't work with us, that's fine, I could suggest some people for you. Hopefully this'll work. All the best, Keilana|Parlez ici 02:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. :) I'll add that if you'd like to see something about my approach to adminship, you can check out this section of my userpage. The RfA coaching organizer who brought you to our attention has offered the opinion that you are about 2-3 months away from readiness for RfA. This seems doable, but, of course, you take that at your own speed. I like what I see in your contribution history. I, too, was heavily involved in vandal-patrol in my early days. If you decide that you'd like to work with us, I promise that I will be candid in my evaluations and give you the best guidance I'm able not only to prepare you for the job, but to prepare you for the enormous stress of the RfA itself. (It was somewhere on par with my master's degree exams for me. :)) As Keilana says, if you aren't ready for coaching or feel that another coach (or coach team) can better help you prepare, there'll be no hard feelings. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:27, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much, I probably will need a lot of help. Could you give me a short summary of how you will coach me, what I should do, etc. ? Midorihana~iidesune? 01:38, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Keilana is more experienced at admin coaching than I am. (Given that I've coached zero. :)) I know frequently admin coaches work on subpages and set certain practice tasks. Me, I'd like to know first what part of adminship appeals to you. Then I would try to help set you up working on parts of the encyclopedia that would improve your readiness for taking on those aspects of adminship. I would also look at your overall contributions in light of what is usually required at RfA. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm not that experienced, but I do know my way around RFA. I think we'll also try to expand your horizons a bit, this will be interesting as Moonriddengirl and I generally work in different areas. My first question, do you belong to any work groups or WikiProjects? If not, I recommend poking around to see if there are any that interest you; I could recommend some if you want. Keilana|Parlez ici 01:48, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I've joined Wikiproject Robotics, but I haven't been really involved all that much. Midorihana~iidesune? 02:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
If you're interested in being coached by us, how about I set up a subpage for conversation? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

←(unindent) Sounds great. :) Thanks. Midorihana~iidesune? 02:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

It's here. :) At your leisure, how about heading over there and answering the usual RfA launch questions? I'd especially like to see your answer to question 1. This is only preliminary, and as your experience on Wikipedia changes, your answers may change to. It's just to get an initial idea of your interests and direction. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:36, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! Midorihana~iidesune? 02:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm sure you're watchlisting the page, so I'm not going to be telling you here every time I respond. :) I just wanted to let you know this time so that I could clarify two things: first, I reviewed your contribution history, but at the same time I reviewed the contribution histories of several other people. If I advise you to go do something you're already doing, that's why. I plan to keep an eye on your contributions from this point on, but I wouldn't have volunteered to help you out if I weren't already comfortable with what I saw in your past, so I'm not going back into your history again. :D Second, I'm tossing out a lot of ideas right now. These are to spark conversation. Once you figure out what interests you, we may want to set some specific goals. There. Said what I needed to. I'll see you at User:Moonriddengirl/Admin. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:28, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Damn, seems a little late to the party. Do you mind if I add a co-nomination to the eventual RFA? I'm continually impressed with your dedication (sorry, couldn't find another cliche :)) and contributions. Regards, Rudget. 17:48, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, everyone. :) No problem. Midorihana~iidesune? 21:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Drop me a line when it gets started. I'll the co-nom then. :) Rudget. 21:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I've just left you some comments and an assignment, would you mind taking a look? Keilana|Parlez ici 23:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: Hey

Hey there, I know, we haven't been in touch recently. But you're doin' great! And RfA wasn't stressful for me; while I was curious as to how it would turn out, I didn't worry too much. That's just my optimistic side at work. :) Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 19:18, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

We need more optimism on Wikipedia. :) Midorihana~iidesune? 02:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: What is your Dangerous Idea

Sure, I'm game. What I think the article needs is more content in the criticism section. I'll start tomorrow since I'm busy (homework) today. And, let's just abbreviate it to "WDI" so we don't have to spell the whole name out whenever we talk about it XD .--Slartibartfast1992 23:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good. :) I think the first thing that should be worked on is real-world notability, because right now the article only has that review in it. From there, content can be worked on. Any thoughts on this "plan of action"? Midorihana~iidesune? 01:01, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
So, mainly, we'd be citing articles reviewing it as for real world notability. Right? --Slartibartfast1992 04:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
If I don't get too much homework I'll look for some tomorrow. --Slartibartfast1992 00:26, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey, sorry I haven't been around, been skiing in Vermont (still am). Anyway, that ref is great, it clearly shows WDI shown in everyday news, which asserts some notability to it. No criticism there, but I guess that the whole "different genes mean different traits in different groups of people" idea was backed up by the whole Ashkenazi inteligence research done by those Utah people, and the heading of the story was about that. And it did boost my Ashkenazi self-esteem (XD). Don't know what exactly it would reference, but its a good ref. --Slartibartfast1992 22:45, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, and incorporate the current "criticism" section into this new "response" section. That sounds good. Maybe put this ref to use in an "everyday news" or "references in journalism" section. --Slartibartfast1992 21:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

What are you optimistic about?

I'm optimistic since I just managed to buy this book out of a stroke of sheer luck while I was in the U.S. Soon as I read a bit into it, I guess I can start on the article. Just letting you know in case you wanted to get the article started as well. --Slartibartfast1992 16:36, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

So you got the book too! Awesome. It's doing a terrific job of cheering me up on world issues. --Slartibartfast1992 20:34, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Back to WDI

OK, I looked at all the link in your sandbox. #1 you already showed me, so you know what I thought of it. #2 was great. A comparison to ideas Shakespeare expresses is extremely interesting and relevant, and is great for the article. Good job on finding that one. #3, we're already using (the last one in the footnotes section, I think. #4 is the preface in the book, so we don't really need the link to ref it. #5... even though the author does a good job of describing the book, the only new thing is when he says his favorite idea. And I don't think that that belongs in the article. So, I say we should definitely add an excerpt of #2 in a new "response" section, in one of those fancy blockquote templates. #1... I'm ambivalent to whether or not to use it in the article. If you can find a way to use it, it's your call. --Slartibartfast1992 21:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Admin coaching

I've just left some thoughts over at the page, please respond when you can. Keilana|Parlez ici 19:17, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. :) Midorihana~iidesune? 21:33, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I'll be making some notes at User:Moonriddengirl/Admin. Please don't edit the page until I'm finished, since I'm making these as I look over your recent contributions. (They may be somewhat incoherent until I'm through.) I'll leave a note when I'm done. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:40, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Okay. Done and ready for you to read and/or respond. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:27, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Wow... the rivers run green with... clover?! :O Anyway, I was down with the sickness for about five hours one night after coming home from a party; couldn't sleep at all, was nauseous, and felt really weak. At least it passed quickly. And yeah, I haven't had very much time to edit since schoolwork picked up... hopefully my teachers stop following the advice of the Third Reich and give us some slack, haha. Hello Midorihana, I was wondering that if you are not too busy if it would be possible for you to adopt me, by the wat what is with that pink unicorn all over your pages.

Hi Mummy

This is a bit of a stupid question but is it possible to automatically find short articles that need to be added on or do you just have to manually look. Thanks :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Why Wiki Why (talkcontribs) 03:44, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Dear Mummy

Hi there Midorihana how are you? You adopted me, I was unfortuantley blocked for being a sock puppet, this is my new account.Wannabe Wiki (talk) 09:30, 22 March 2008 (UTC) bye

Sure Mummy

Don't Worry, I'm a good boyWannabe Wiki (talk) 10:25, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mummy

I am finding it so hard to find an article that I can add to, but I will keep on looking, by the way this might not be very constructive but how did you make your signature green and put the invisible pink unicorn on your user page that is very cool, I want mine to be like that —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wannabe Wiki (talkcontribs) 10:44, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mummy

Thanks for that, now my signature is going to be as cool as yours and I have her holiness the invisible pink unicorn on my page (are you really an atheist?), as for what I am interested in I'm interested in the world wars and basically every major conflict of the 21st century but they don't need anymore articles, they are completley full. Don'y worry I will keep on lokking. by [[User:Wannabe Wiki|Wannabe Wiki]] ([[User talk:Wannabe Wiki|talk]]) (talk) 11:10, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mummy took your advice on not starting a new section, sorry. No, nothing wrong with being an atheist just curious (you heathen, only joking) I was wondering why my signature wasn't working and yes I hope we will find an article. By the way where are you from, there is I think German or Asian writing on your user page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wannabe Wiki (talkWannabe Wiki (talk) 12:18, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Happy (secular) Easter, Mummy.

Hey, Happy Atheist Easter (just because you don't believe in Jesus doesn't mean you don't like chocolate eggs) also It is very cool that you can speak Japanese.Wannabe Wiki (talk) 03:57, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Mummy for the Egg, very sweet, by the way I was wondering if you could tell me how to put those witty little boxes on your user page they are very cool. After reading your user boxes I have come to the conclusion that you are a scientist, a science teacher or a nerd (not in a mean way) am I right? Also Queen rocks! And Isaac Asimov not Jules Verne is the real father of Science Fiction.Wannabe Wiki (talk) 05:13, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mummy

 • I basically understand all the policies and guidlines but I just can't find an article to edit ( I hope it doesn't sound like I'm a whinger, but I am really annoyed) if it is okay I would like to know what your first edits and contributions were and what you do when you can't find an article to edit.
 • Also I was looking at a list of roman battles and saw one that had no article it was called the Battle of Callinicum, excited I typed that on google and the exact same name appeared on wikipedia so I copied and pasted the google\wikipedia entry onto the empty one because I thought there was a problem but now I think that they might be 2 different battles with the same name so how do I delete the one i did, i am confused and what i am asking is confusing too probaly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wannabe Wiki (talkcontribs) 04:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
