Battle at Emmaus

I finished the first paragraph after the headline "Battle at Emmaus," and added the section headline "Battle at Emmaus." You can change it and add a cleanup thingy. :(

Battle of Rome, 390 BC

I want to create this article on the Battle of Rome in 390 BC. What do you think? Of course, I have a few reliable sources.

--Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 00:47--Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 00:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC), 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Check to make sure that there isn't an article about it already under a different name, or there isn't a subsection about the same thing. Midorihana~いいですね? 07:08, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I did. There was nothing about the Battle of Rome in 390 BC. There was really no record of the Battle between King Brennus and Camilius.
--Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 07:10, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Alright, that should be fine. Also check Wikipedia:Notability, although being a history article I'm not too sure what it would fall under. I'll have to ask. Midorihana~いいですね? 07:13, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
It's very notable, I can assure you. It was one of the main contributing reasons why the Roman Legions were developed. It was the predecessor of Marius' legionaries. It practically put Rome's military top dog in Italy. Go Romans! --Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 23:04, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I'll work on it. It might take a while, considering no one has really written anything. But I'll try. It'll probably by pretty bad. But I'll try. I would love so say my favorite quote here, but it might be offensive. I'll just Anagram it. GWI!!! --Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 23:07, 18 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Benedict of Constantinople (talkcontribs)
Sounds good. By the way, also check WP:TALK (just FYI). You should try to make a personal sandbox, too. Midorihana~いいですね? 23:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
There is a Battle of Rome. But it's called the Battle of the Allia. I'll just edit that, because it is a bit short for such a decisive battle!--Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 00:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
That's why it's important to check.  :) Midorihana~いいですね? 00:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

History notablity (?) question

What does history fall under in the notablity guideline? I'm not too sure that it applies. Midorihana~いいですね? 07:15, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Though we don't have any specific guidelines for it, I'd say that if it has been covered/researched extensively it would be notable. However, you may want to check with the people at WikiProject History; I'll look around as soon as I get back home from school. Oh, and thanks for the barnstar! :) Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 13:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome! It seems like the notablity guidelines only deal with the recent. Midorihana~いいですね? 20:54, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
If I may jump in, history falls under the general criterion at WP:N. I would imagine that pretty well anything that happened in 380 BC would either be notable or would have insufficient information to write an article about it, so I'd say go for it. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 22:33, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification :) Midorihana~いいですね? 22:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

History is good. --Benedict of Constantinople (talk) 23:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

about 216.56.27.19...

Hello!

I have two questions:

  1. Some time ago, I spotted some damaging edits that seemed to constitute vandalism here done by 216.56.27.19. When I reached his talk page here, I was stunned by the list of vandalism warnings that were issued to him, to no avail. This chronic vandalism seems to be intractable (I would in fact go a step further to imply that he is proud of his desctructive edits). Is there a way to stop vandals such as 216.56.27.19 for good?
  1. This is of rather less importance: I would like to send out user warnings to vandals as administators can. As an average Wikipedian, am I authorized to issue user warnings?

Thank you for your consideration. --~~MusicalConnoisseur~~ Got Classical? 04:56, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

It seems that that IP does have a history of vandalism; however, (as noted here), admins usually don't block IPs indefinitely because IPs can belong to a wide array of editors and affect many people.
Yes, anyone can (and should) issue warnings to other editors when they vandalize (like here). Template messages for warning can be found at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. The templates have 'levels'; if the editor vandalized once, then place a level one template; if the editor vandalized twice, place a level two template etc. If the editor vandalizes after you issue a warning from the fourth level, then the next step would be to report them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism.
If you have any more questions or anything, just leave a message on my talk page. :) Happy editing, Midorihana~いいですね? 07:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC) P.S. I'm not an admin, by the way :)

uploading image for Chocola

Hey Midorihana! I want to place an image or a few of them on the Chocola entry page/s. I uploaded an image of an ancient stone drain thinking I would then be able to position it on the page as I wanted. Can't figure out how to do it! Please advise. It is my own photograph from my project. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonathan Kaplan1938 (talkcontribs) 11:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

What happened to Master of Puppets? Basketball110 20:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm his adoptee and we usually communicate once or twice a day, but I haven't heard from him for three days. I asked him a few things on the 17th and 18th, but never got a reply. Basketball110 21:55, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

I have the mop but can you search the RFA meeting shown to find the bucket?
Thanks for your support, my request for adminship passed 60/0/0 yesterday!

I want to thank Mrs.EasterBunny and Royalbroil for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. To paraphrase a president ... I wish my mum and dad could see the comments made. My dad would be so proud to see the comments ... and my mum would have believed them". I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and you may be surprised to find that I have not deleted all of the pages by accident..... yet).

RfA thank-spam

-Midorihana-/Archive 4, I wish to tender my sincere thanks for your support in my successful request for adminship, which ended with 37 supports, 2 opposes, and 2 neutral. The results of the RfA are extremely bittersweet because of the recent departure of my nominator, Rudget. Hopefully I can live up to his and your expectations. I would especially like to thank Epbr123 and TomStar81 for mentioning that they were preparing to offer me a nomination. The past week has been one of the most stressful weeks in my life, and I appreciate your vote of confidence in me. If you ever need anything, just get in touch. -MBK004 21:06, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Changing the article name

Hey, sorry for not answering fast. I think I'll recover from my holidays and be back to my full editing capacity in about a week. So anyway, I think it's a good idea to change the article name. I had thought about it, but I don;t recall why I didn't bring it up. On another topic, I fixed my sig! XD. --Slartibartfast1992 23:59, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

My RFA

Thanks!
-Midorihana-/Archive 4, thank you for showing your support in my RFA which passed with 38 support, 0 oppose, and 0 neutral! I also want to give special thanks to my Admin Coach and nominator, Useight for all of his help and support. I promise that I'll give my best effort as an admin, and I hope that your confidence in me proves to be justified. If I can ever be of any help, please let me know. In the mean time, I have some cleaning to do.

Have a great day! Jauerbackdude?/dude. 20:17, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

a thank you note

Thanks for participating in my RfA!
Although it failed 43/27/0, I'm happy because the outcome has been very helpful in many meaningful ways. Your support and remarks contributed so much to this. If you followed my RfA you know what happened. Most of the editors who posted opposing opinions have never edited with me. Some articles I edit deal with controversial topics and with respect to a very few of these, editors who didn't know much about me had some worries about confrontational editing and civility. Since I support their high standards I can easily (and will gladly) address this. The support and ecouragement to run again soon has been wonderful, thanks again. Cheers! RE: Template

Hey there! I'd suggest changing the title to "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology". Also, adding a header to the section with people might be a good idea; title it 'founders' or such. Finally, might I suggest a background colour change? It makes it hard to see the v d e and show buttons. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 06:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Some minor trouble

Hey, I've been meaning to make a section in What Is Your Dangerous Idea? about how the book was made, but I can't think of a good title for the section. "Making" sounds too ordinary but "synthesis" is downright nerdy. Any ideas? --Slartibartfast1992 22:29, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Nick gave me the word "development". I think I'll start the section tomorrow. --Slartibartfast1992 02:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Sounds fine. :) Midorihana~いいですね? 05:33, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Lol I wrote a couple sentences and then I just didn't know what else to write. I guess it's fine as is (it's not a section after all). --Slartibartfast1992 22:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
It looks just fine, except for a bit of funny wording. There really isn't much to say about the development, hm... I hope I can dig up some sources. Midorihana~iidesune? 06:52, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
