Jiang Xiang † |
Dorgun Ajige |
The Jiang Xiang Rebellion took place in 1649 against the rule of Qing dynasty by Jiang Xiang , the military commander of Datong. The rebellion broke out on 15 January when Jiang claimed himself "chief general", and caused most of the cities in Shanxi to be captured by forces against Qing. In order to suppress the rebellion, Dorgun, the de facto ruler of Qing, gathered crack forces and numerous nobles to siege Datong, which lasted for nine and a half months. The rebellion failed when Jiang's subordinate killed him and surrendered to Qing on 4 October. Another several months were taken to suppress uprising in Shanxi and Shaanxi.
