Iron Man is a American superhero film series based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first film of the series, Iron Man was released in 2008, the second film, Iron Man 2 was released in 2010 and the third and final film, Iron Man 3 was released in 2013. It is third in highest-grossing film series as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

When Stark is captured in enemy territory, he builds a high-tech suit of armor to escape. Now, he's on a mission to save the world as a hero who's built not born, to be unlike any other.
- Iron Man 2 (2010)
Everyone now knows Stark is Iron Man, and now Stark is being pressured by the government to share the schematics of the Iron Man armor, for military use. Paranoid of the fact that the schematics could fall into the wrong hands, Tony hides the secrets of the Iron Man.
- Iron Man 3 (2013)
Stark faces a powerful enemy, the Mandarin, when he embarks on a quest to find those responsible for destroying his private world. Along the way, he discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: "Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?".

Stark makes a brief cameo appearance during a scene with Thunderbolt Ross, in which he discusses putting a superhero team together.[1] Stark Industries is also seen in the opening credits, supplying vehicles to Ross. The logo is again seen on the carbon freezing unit that the super soldier serum was being stored in.
- Marvel's The Avengers (2012)
Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor with the help of Black Widow and Hawkeye to form a team that must stop Thor's adoptive brother Loki and his allies the Chitauri from subjugating Earth.
Future
[edit]In June 2013, Robert Downey, Jr. will reprise his role as Iron Man in Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron and a third Avengers film.[2]

[edit]Iron Man is distributed worldwide by Paramount Pictures. It received positive reviews from film critics. On May 1, 2008, the film was identified as the "best-reviewed film of the year so far" by Jen Yamato of review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with the site reporting at that time the film had received a rating of 95% based on 107 reviews and this rating has held its place as of January 2010. The film currently holds a score of 93% based on 238 reviews. Metacritic gave the film normalized average score of 79%, based on 38 reviews. The film received two sequels.
Iron Man 2 is distributed worldwide by Paramount Pictures. It received generally positive reviews. It holds a 73% overall approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 274 reviews with an average rating of 6.5/10, and the film is "Certified Fresh", with the critical consensus that "It isn't quite the breath of fresh air that Iron Man was, but this sequel comes close with solid performances and an action-packed plot". After the release of Iron Man 2, The Walt Disney Company agreed to pay Paramount $115, million for the worldwide distribution rights to both Iron Man 3 and Marvel's The Avengers.[3] Disney, Marvel and Paramount announced a May 3, 2013 release date for Iron Man 3.
Iron Man 3 is distributed worldwide by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures1 with the exception of China, where it is being released by DMG Entertainment, and Germany and Austria, where it is being released by Tele München Group.[4] It received generally positive reviews from professional film critics. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 78% approval rating with an average rating of 7.0/10, based on 257 reviews,[5] while Metacritic gave a score of 62 out of 100 based on 43 reviews.[6]
