The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian: Pemerintah Revolusioner Republik Indonesia (PRRI)) was a self-claimed legitimate government of Indonesia set up in Sumatra to oppose the central government of Indonesia in 1958. [1]
Although frequently referred to as the PRRI/Permesta rebellion, the Permesta rebels were actually a separate movement in Sulawesi, that had pledged allegiance with the PRRI on 17 February 1958.[2][3]
