Fair use rationale for Image:Founderdirector2.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Founderdirector2.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 11:40, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Deletion of Picture
[edit]Hello Big, I found that you have deleted the pic of RN Kao on the premise that it was a blatant copyright infringement, with all my respect for your judgement I would like to state that this photograph was a perfect candidate for Fair use rationale as Kao, known for a peculiar disenchanment for photography, was photographed only a few times during his lifetime and this photo is one of the only two surviving photographs of Kao. So I shall request you to kindly reconsider your decision as to the suitability of the picture in wikipedia. LegalEagle 10:47, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have restored it and removed the pd-self tag and added a tag indicating that the image description page is missing a fair use rationale. Please see Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline for information on writing a fair use rationale.
- Please also note that your page User:Legaleagle/image contains some non-free images. Non-free images cannot be used outside of article space. Please remove them at your soonest convenience. You can link to them, but not include them. Also, some of the images tagged as self-made seem questionable. For example, did you really create Image:03singhthe defector.jpg and Image:Cocked123.jpg from scratch? If you only modified someone else's work, that is considered a derivative work and cannot be used under a free license.
- Lastly, I notice that your talk page is a redirect to another page. Having it setup like that breaks a lot of scripts. If you would like to change your name, please see Wikipedia:Changing username, but I would strongly suggest not having your talk page setup as a redirect. --BigDT 11:59, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Big, thanks for the long and prompt reply, I appreciate your decision to restore the pic of RN Kao. I have changed the liscence of Image:03singhthe defector.jpg as I only did some minor modification to the work, I have also changed my talkpage setup so that it doesnt get fragmented, and thanks again for your decision. About the terrorism template
[edit]Hi Legaleagle,
I noticed that you have added the template to some pages (Jaish-e-Mohammed, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen etc.). It seems that according to the Wikipedia guideline on words to avoid, the words terrorism or terrorist should be used carefully and avoided in the narrative voice. Instead, in the interest of neutrality, it should be clearly mentioned which country or government classifies the organisation as a terrorist group.
In light of this, I propose keeping the template on these pages, but changing the title of the template from to or something to that effect. I'm just pre-empting some objections that might be raised to the template, citing the above guideline.
Thanks, Max - You were saying? 07:56, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:Goebbels 0001.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Goebbels 0001.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self-no-disclaimers tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 23:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for clarifying the source; German World War II material is in the public domain in the United States according to NARA, but we do still need to make a Wikipedia:Fair use claim on this material, as it is not in the public domain in its country of origin. Jkelly 18:34, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. With regards to your revert on Research and Analysis Wing concerning the source rense.com. RAW
[edit]Hey. Thanks for your message to my talk page. While I can understand your position, I suggest you take a look at WP:NOR (No original research). Your comment to my talk page, while being very interesting, lacked any reliable sources for foundation, and constitutes original research. The inclusion of such statements into a wikipedia article, absent any reliable sources to confirm it, can constitute defamation and a tacit allowance of tinfoil hat-esque conspiracism, characteristic of Indophobia and Pakistani Nationalist propaganda. of course, I am not accusing you of any of these things, so forgive me if I gave you such a false impression. It's just that there is a lot of Original research and unverified nonsense in many South Asia related articles on wikipedia, and it would be wrong to perpetrate such things in such an important article. To raise another point, your claim that Mossad covertly engages in controlling governments through some "secret network of Jews",is essentially little more than baseless propaganda and is essentially an antisemitic slur (see Jewish lobby for background information). The same problem exists with the claim that RAW has some secret network of Indians in some sort of all-powerful "Indian lobby" serving it's "nefarious interests". It can convey an impression of anti-Indian scapegoating and stereotyping, although I'm sure that was not your intention. It is a very subtle thing, and not such an issue in India, but wikipedia is primarily read by westerners, who can cultivate such a false impression from these statements. The Indian disapora is hardly that unified. It is very diverse and rent with division. It is simply impossible for there to be a representative "Indian lobby" anywhere as no lobby can represent the interests of all Indians in India or the diaspora. Such claims reek of traditional antisemitic canards with "Jew" replaced by "Indian", and is inappropriate for inclusion into a wikipedia article. My Sabot 05:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:478-animate.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Re: Request for help over sanskrit caption of R&AW
[edit]Hi, this is in reply to the request you placed on my user talk page. धर्मो रक्षति रक्षित: is the correct usage.
It translates into something like this: "Dharma protects those who protect it" or "Those who protect Dharma are protected by it"
Cheers, --H P Nadig \Talk \Contributions 18:11, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi...I just signed into Wikipedia after a long time and saw your message on my talk page regarding R&AW's seal motto. As far as my knowledge of Sanskrit goes The phrase "dharmo rakshati rakshitah" appears as धर्मो रक्षति रक्षित: in Devanagari script. It means the protectors of dharma are protected. Dharma here means way of life (in a very narrow sense some speakers use it as a synonym for the word Religion). --- User:Apoorv khurasia

Speedy deletion of Kesavananda Bharati v. The State of Kerala/sandbox
[edit]Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]i don't know why bolowali encounter was deleted
can i repost it?? i have got a punjabi newspaper cover showing the 5 sikhs in the field... Isn't that enough.. I think this article is quite notable since its in the same league as the SARAGARHI battle. And u may not believe but ITS THE TRUTH that 5 'terrorists' fought against 10,000+. Its hard to believe, but even Saragarhi battle is hard to believe where 21 fought against 10,000, and killed more than 4,000. But why can't you believe a battle from 5 against 12,000, and all terrorist killed and from army side casualties in hundreds. Do you think i would lie for the sake of an article?? Sunnybondsinghjalwehra (talk) 16:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, in wikipedia the central theme on which the data are presented is that there should be no original research and the refernce should be independantly verified, you can refer to WP:OR for more details. The article on bolowali encounter seems so unreal that a casual reader would be astonished at the high casualty rate of the army (though i dont think that it is impossible), however it does not have any value on what i think, but it is of value what neutral sources states on the incident, i failed to get any refernce of the bolowali encounter by googling except for a certain extremist blog. So try to substantiate by giving credible sources. LegalEagle (talk) 12:37, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Since last some days, a person with the ip adress 90.192.59.135, is constantly making edits to Khalistan. I have no problems that someone edits a page and makes it better. Just to let you know why I have reverted your 'Spelling correction' made to what I wrote in the article. I understand your meaning, however in the context of the story 'reputedly' - by repute; according to general belief - is the correct word to use. Note there is some indication the boy was tortured, with hanging only part of the process, as opposed to hanged in the general sense of the word. Had I wished to infer otherwise I would have simply omitted the word from the sentence. Note what I wrote with the referenced article on the 10th December, in the timeline of the battle. - Hi, the article on Bolowali Encounter does not have any verifiable reference and on googling it one gets only 3 hits out of which two are from wikipedia and the other is an extremist pov blog, thus it seems that the article is based on original research WP:NOR. I would like to suggest that in order to keep the article you have to get verifiable npov sources to substantiate the claims made in the article. LegalEagle (talk) 14:51, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

RTI act and copyright
[edit]Hi legal,
could you take a look at the RTI act and see what that means for the copyright status of government issued/released material. For example, what is the license for PIB or DRDO released information? Thanks. T/@Sniperz11editssign 22:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi sniper, as per section 9 of RTI
- Without prejudice to the provisions of section 8, a Central Public Information Officer or a State Public Information Officer, as the case may be, may reject a request for information where such a request for providing access would involve an infringement of copyright subsisting in a person other than the State.
- Thus if we construe the section backwards we find that any document provided by government where the copyright is held by govt, will come under public domain license if not provided otherwise, because the RTI petitioner has the right to publish the report at any forum. However this does not mean that the document has no copyright protection, as pictures which feature in websites where the copyright status is protected then even if the same picture comes under RTI, the stricter license would apply. Thus we have to chk the license in case to case basis. LegalEagle (talk) 12:08, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for rving the edits. Is there any way we can remove those edits from the history? I suspect that its just an editor with a very active imagination, but better not to take that chance. I'll be watching his edits very carefully from now on. Next thing is to get the images also deleted. Could u add a CSD tag on them if possible. I'm seeing if theres any way to take this forward. Could u email me if possible, so that I can give u the details.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ek1.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Ek1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by an adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 14:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

hi
[edit]hey, found you editing NUJS page and so dropped on to your userpage. Found that you are doing law. Was quiet happy to see that because in the small time that I have been on wikipedia, I didnt find many with the background in law. Also saw the templates you created. Was wondering what the relating to SCICase was for. Anyways, I have been working on a page for Law Commission of India. Thought would drop a message for you if you could help in any way. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Cheers. Tarun2k (talk) 15:09, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- sure, the place may not be organised, but it atleast deserves a page on wikipedia for all the work they have done on law reform. Presently and running busy with some work but plan to come up with the full page soon. Hope you would have liked the contents till now. And I would be more than happy if you could contribute your part.
- As for the template, it looks nice but I was wondering if the holding part in the infobox could be changed to accommodate more than one major outlines of the decisions, all in bullet form. At present I dont think it can accommodate more than one distinct outcome of the case. Hope you would look into that too. In any case, its so nice to see that someone has been working on Indian law related segments, which I have found to be a neglected area mostly. Tarun2k (talk) 09:44, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem
[edit]Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Armyinbluestar.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:08, 22 October 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey (talk) 12:08, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Sikh Extremism
[edit]Hi LegalEagle, I wandered if you could look at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Princhest
Its seems apparent that Singh6 is inviting users to have it deleted. This raises serious questions about the singular honest/democratic value of the keep/delete votes, (it seems as Wikipedia could do with some improvement) I also notice many ghost anon IP's have asked it to be deleted, whereas admins like yourself have asked it to be kept; I added some links of the manipulation/intimidation/ not just of journalists and politicians but also to free speech itself as seen in Behzti which by coincidence is also been nominated for deletion by Singh6 and Sikh-'history' ??
The two above individuals Zafarnamah and Beetle CT have had edit warnings not to mention, where did these Ghost users come from all of a sudden ? 1 2 3 4 ! Its worth pointing now that Singh6 and others want the Behzti article to be deleted as well now !! http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Behzti&diff=prev&oldid=250889802 I think most fair minded people will go along with Flewis, DJ Clayworth, KnowledgeHegemony and LegalEagle. Your Message
[edit]What ??????
Dear Editor, first of all thanks for the message. I didnt understand the reason of your question, why would you ask me a question about my last absence from wiki, I dont look into other editor's personal lives. And why you did not ask me that what did I do during my previous similar absences in the months of August and September or whatever?__Godddd ? As far as I know myself, wikipedia is not a permanent routine of my life. And I usually dont even visit wiki continuously for 10-15 days whenever I want. Regarding AfD, I had received an urgent email from someone, who requested me to study the facts and vote, and I dont think there was any thing wrong with that. I dont see any Afd information message posted in your talk page on or before the date when you actually voted for this article...so do I need to ask that how did you come to know? Yes, We argue on different matters on wiki but we shouldn't let these arguments overtake our peace of mind. If we start fighting on every single edit then we end up doing edit-wars, so If I see someone else taking the drivers seat then why shouldn't I sit back, relax and take a peek every 10/15 days?__anyways, shoot me an email if I dont respond within one or two days. Enjoy!!--Beetle CT (talk) 08:05, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

AIV reports
[edit]Hi, Legaleagle86. The report you recently filed on 209.195.77.90 had a couple of problems. First, the IP had only made one edit, which is not enough activity to justify a block (unless there's evidence of block evasion, sock-puppetry, etc.). The one edit was also nearly 5 hours old when you reported it; AIV is only for current vandalism, ideally only that which is going on "as we speak". I wanted to point out those problems, because the better informed anti-vandal editors are, the less cluttered AIV becomes, and admins can block the most damaging vandals faster. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 05:23, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot, I wanted to warn the user using TW but went to AIV. My mistake. LegalEagle (talk) 05:26, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Image source problem with Image:PAF Chaklala.PNG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PAF Chaklala.PNG.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:37, 6 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 21:37, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:PAF Chaklala.PNG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:PAF Chaklala.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free image (File:Logoofcbi111.gif)
[edit]You've uploaded File:Logoofcbi111.gif, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

Please stop personal attacks
[edit]The comment "flaming content which is better suited for some terror recruitment site" are not only irresponsible but also personal attacks on other editors calling them terrorist recruiters. Please stop this approach of calling people names and attacking them personally; you have been doing this from some time off and on against the editors who do not agree with your POV on political and other India related topics. --RoadAhead =Discuss= 15:59, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- The contents added by you were potentially flaming and highly irresponsible. So stop spreading hatred through semantics and dont rage when more responsible editors point out such flaws. I never called you a "terror recruiter" it is you who have stylized the title yourself. LegalEagle (talk) 03:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
January 2009
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Research and Analysis Wing has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bflickr\.com/(?:photos|groups|search)\b' (link(s): http://flickr.com/photos/21709881@N02/2211134333) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Orphaned non-free media (File:RAWHQ.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:RAWHQ.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:05, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Image permission problem with Image:Kahutablueprint.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Kahutablueprint.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Yousaf465 04:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Balochistan issues in Research and analysis wing article
[edit]Balochistan related sections do not cite any relevant sources. The three sources mentioned:
- http://www.janes.com/security/international_security/news/jir/jir010315_1_n.shtml
- http://www.tribuneindia.com/2006/20060422/main6.htm
don't even mention the words "balochistan", "baloch", "raw" or "research and analysis wing" anywhere in the body of the articles. Hence I intend to remove the suspect passages. Please advise. Nshuks7 (talk) 06:43, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Request for unblock
[edit]- Before unblocking, you should perhaps stop editing through open proxies. The use of open proxies is not allowed at Wikipedia, which is why this one has been blocked. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 03:58, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you Jayron32, I ave been editing wikipedia for quite a long time, however I have been inactive for a month or so, however before this I havent faced a problem related to open proxies (and frankly I dont even know if I am editing through open proxies). Hence I presume that I dont edit through open proxies. Any way I believe that I have been unblocked. LegalEagle (talk) 13:10, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Re:Autonomous law school
[edit]Though the NLUs are self-financing and autonomous, all of them has been established through a legislature, which give them a government status. Though they are self financing, that does not end enjoying the government status of these institutions. As per S. 2(h) of RTI Act, 2005:
"public authority" means any authority or body or institution of self- government established or constituted—
(a) by or under the Constitution;
(b) by any other law made by Parliament;
(c) by any other law made by State Legislature;
(d) by notification issued or order made by the appropriate Government,
and includes any—
(i) body owned, controlled or substantially financed;
(ii) non-Government organisation substantially financed, directly or indirectly by funds provided by the appropriate Government;
These institutions meet the criteria 2(h)(c). I think it would not be unjust to call them government or public institutions. I think in view, they should be named public law schools. Amartyabag TALK2ME 03:03, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that 'public law school' is the best alternative. LegalEagle (talk) 03:55, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Please do not be offended by my odd request, I do not intend to be rude. But I was wondering if you could give some insight into the supposed topic of Indian pornographic comics, kirtu. I was wondering if this is an actual topic of interest in India and that it has encyclopedic value. To me the page looks like some underhanded advertisement, but I do not know enough about Indian culture, politics, and law to comment on it. I was wondering if you might shed some light on the topic or perhaps recommend it's deletion.
For further information, please look at the Savita Bhabhi page, it claims this webcomic has been translated into 10 languages but only lists हिन्दी as a language with the same article. I would assume it would have more languages listed if it was really popular in India. Oddly the हिन्दी article only lists English language references and sources for information about the comic. I know English is used widely in India, but I would expect information from other language sites if it was a real topic.
You have my sincere apology if this topic offends you. But if you can comment on it at Talk:Kirtu or just right here that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help you can provide. Thank you.Joshuaism (talk) 20:12, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

WP:Hornbook -- a new law-related task force for the J.D. curriculum
[edit]Hi Legaleagle86/Archive 3,
I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".
Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or anchors in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, User Hornbook to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.
Regards, Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 01:58, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Personal sytle and ownership of articles?
[edit]Dear Legaleagle86,
As per Wiki's policies, one must open mindedly consider other people's edits on the basis of cited fact. One must not assume ownership of a topic, citing that your personal "style" must be followed by editors across the globe.
Do you disagree?

- Thanks a lot for pointing out the issue, I am sorry for not being able to reply earlier, I fully agree with you on the policy questions raised by you, I only disagree with the manner in which the edits were done by you by which the ethnic imbalance data (which was already there in the article) was taken out and given a seperate head, also when I have remodified the contents I have also included the information and the reference provided by you relating to the corruption as mentioned in the book by Maj Gen VK Singh (retd), as for the info relating to drawal of funds by the sec (r) for his wife, it may find mention in the article relating to the concerned secretary (a page which is too much one side in my opinion and has only one main ref source an online paper of middle east, which could be a dummy end of another intelligence agency, but then this is not in the realm of our discussion, nor is it relevant to the issue pointed by you), what I wanted to state is that in my opinion very specific corruption charges must be in the page relating to the people concerned.
- As for the question of style, there has been lot of changes in the format of the article in question (pls refer to the history), I would like to strongly deny that I have tried to monopolize the article unilaterally although I have regularly contributed and checked/watched the updates and edits. I hope this reply would answer your queries and encourage you to contribute to wiki in future. LegalEagle (talk) 04:48, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: District maps of West Bengal (North and South 24 paraganas)
[edit]Yes. I agree with you that these maps are incorrect as they are shown now. North 24 Paraganas district has no part of the Sundarbans. The calcuttaweb maps look correct, it shows the subdivisions also correctly. I guess the error got propagated from the India map [5]. This one [6] is probably better, I am not sure whether this one is an 'independent' map or part of another full map of India. I think we have to approach the appropriate group under WP:India.--GDibyendu (talk) 10:28, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
- I think the error arose because one of the users may have mistaken one of the rivers as the district boundary line (its a easy mistake to make especially because there are so many riverine). [7] is the correct map (and the best available one at present). There is also another external map source for boundary delimitation from the EC website at [8] (its 10 mb so would take some time to load), it shows that the sunderbans is not part of N 24 parganas and is shown as a diff entity as there are no population in it (so not part of any constituency).
