TrumpVirus, or Trump plague and Trump's plague,[1][2][3] are terms that have come out of the politics in 2020 surrounding the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, and President Donald Trump's gross mismanagement of the infection.[4][5][6][7][8][9] The TrumpVirus term was originally coined by American journalist Gail Collins in an opinion piece[10] reported in The New York Times on February 26, 2020. Since then, the term has rapidly gained popularity and notoriety,[11][12][13][14][15] often used as a hashtag - #TrumpVirus - on social media,[16] the name of a website at TrumpVirus.org, a rapidly growing news site dedicated to reporting on the latest news, commentary, coronavirus updates, 2020 election polls and Trump protest songs,[17] as well as a proposed National TrumpVirus Day (yearly on February 7th).[18]
