  • Isotta Ingrid Rossellini to Ingrid Rossellini. 24.19.35.187 20:13, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
    • I just deleted the cut-and-paste version and did a proper page move. I think that should be sufficient in this case. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 23:47, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
      • Not to trample on your toes or anything, but I've restored the deleted revisions, as that's the normal protocol and there's no reason to keep them deleted. Who knows, someone may find them important. Snoutwood (talk) 23:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Hot Rod (rapper) vs Young Hot Rod. I don't have any personal knowledge or interest in what this rapper's current stagename is; I just know that the cut-paste moves back and forth are getting out of hand. Thanks. --Geniac 18:39, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Done. I've also left a message on the talk page. Thanks! Snoutwood (talk) 17:15, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
  • At 14:29, July 26, 2006, User:C. C. Perez moved Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo to Monte Carlo Rally using cut and paste, leaving a redirect at the old page. Since then, as far as I can see, the old Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo article has not been edited. Therefore, I think it'd be straightforward to merge the history of the old page with the new one, although I'd like the old one left as a redirect if possible (otherwise I'll recreate it). Looking at the user's edit history, I think he's moved a lot of pages in the same manner, but this is the only one I'm concerned with. --DeLarge 22:50, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Somebody redirected the article Indonesian-sounding names adopted by Indonesian-Chinese [1] without moving the page, and then Moe Epsilon blanked the article and changed the redirect to Haji Mohammad Suharto.[2] I think the latter is some sort of vandalism (I'm not sure) since Haji Mohammad Suharto has suppressed Chinese culture during his rule and this may be a disrespect towards Chinese Indonesian. Anyway, I moved the talk page[3] but the original article's history [4]is still there. So, can someone move its history? (and perhaps do something about Moe Epsilon) Thanks. Feureau 05:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Done. I've also left a small note on Moe's page, but I'm sure that his edit was innocent. Snoutwood (talk) 16:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Sheffield Station bears {{db-histmerge}}, as it is where the page was pasted to, however, the correct location is where it was copied from - Sheffield station, small s (which now bears a redirect). 81.104.170.167 16:50, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
  • It looks as though User:Mattwebb24 has moved Matthew Webb to Captain Matthew Webb and then put in his own vanity page at Matthew Webb. Can this be sorted? --mervyn 13:06, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Not a cut and paste move, but I deleted the new matthew webb page (csd a7, nn-bio) and reverted the move. - Bobet 13:10, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Sukkah was cut&pasted to Sukkah (Talmud). In fact, the page originally existed at [[Sukkah (Talmud}]], but was moved to Sukkah (tractate) in another cut&paste move on July 11, shortly after I created the page in the first place. On July 19, the page was moved (normally) to Sukkah by a well-intentioned administrator. The problem is that the vast majority of people typing "Sukkah" will want Sukkot, not Sukkah (Talmud).
I did not put up the {{db-histmerge}} template because I was confused about whether this would result in the article being speedy-deleted. --Eliyak T·C 15:54, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Please also see: Talk:Fake (manga) for an earlier discussion, which was unfortunately ignored and perhaps misunderstood by the user who later initiated the cut and paste.

All of these articles I previously "moved" by cutting and pasting when I had different accounts, I wish to have the histories merged as explained on the individual pages above. 156.34.233.128 20:26, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

All done.--Konstable 07:09, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Ahhm, some more complications. User:TheFEARgod replaced with redirection. The following actions are advised:
  1. Revert User:TheFEARgod last change.
  2. Speedy deletion of Zar'it-Ayta ash-Shab incident.
  3. Move Ayta ash-Shab/Zar'it incident to Zar'it-Ayta ash-Shab incident.
Thanks, Fuzzy 21:28, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Article page is fixed. Still need to fix the talk page –
There is some junk floating around, and it might be a good idea to clean the mess, by speedy deletion of the following redirctions: Zar'it-Ayta ash-Shab incident (temporary), Talk:Zar'it-Ayta ash-Shab incident (temporary), Ayta al-Sha`b incident, Talk:Ayta al-Sha`b incident, Zar'it-Ayta al-Sha`b incident, Talk:Zar'it-Ayta al-Sha`b incident, Ayta ash-Shab/Zar'it incident. After the requested move, also Talk:Ayta ash-Shab/Zar'it incident.
Thanks, Fuzzy 06:36, 14 August 2006 (UTC) updated: 22:54, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
I fixed the talk page and deleted the obviously useless redirects. The rest are still around, since redirects are cheap. The whole thing is a huge mess, it was moved again after the latest comment here (for the 7th or 8th time). I'm protecting it against moves until people actually start discussing them, leave a message if it gets cut and paste moved again. If there's some extra history lying around somewhere that still needs to be merged, please tell. - Bobet 23:28, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
  • E4 (channel)E4 (TV). GMc cut and pasted the E4 (channel) to the E4 (TV) article this morning. E4 (channel) is now a redirect with all the page history there. Talk:E4 (TV) now redirects to E4 (TVI), another article that GMc possibly used before cut and pasting the E4 (channel) article to E4 (TV). I can't do anything myself until the evening because of work commitments. E4 TVI needs deleting once the talk page has been moved to E4 (TV)'s talk page. --tgheretford (talk) 11:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Chloroma. I accidentally moved this page to Chloromabb, then compounded my error by moving it to BBBcoma. Finally I cut-and-pasted the text back onto the CHLOROMA page, which was a mistake. Anyhoo, the actual text of the article should be on the page named "Chloroma" (the other two were typos), but I've destroyed the edit history by accident. Can we merge the edit history of these 3 pages? The main page should be "Chloroma". The other two should probably just be deleted as they are meaningless typos. Thanks and sorry to make more work for you. MastCell 17:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

  • 3 articles, all got cut/paste disambiguated. (As there are only 2 people on each dab-page, I presumme we can eliminate the dab-page altogether, and just use dab-toplinks instead?). Thanks. --Quiddity·(talk) 19:09, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Peter PowellPeter Powell (disc jockey). Article Peter Powell was cut-and-pasted to Peter Powell (dj) (and later moved to its current location of Peter Powell (disc jockey)) and the contents of Peter Powell were replaced with a disambiguation page. The history of Peter Powell up to the version by AntiVandalBot dated 25 July 2006 16:05 (UCT) should be moved to the history of Peter Powell (disc jockey); all later versions should be left in place. — DLJessup (talk) 20:10, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Done (in practice, I had to leave the edit by antivandalbot there, as well as the one right before and after. Undeleting only 2 of those edits didn't seem to work because they all have the same time). - Bobet 20:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Second ChimurengaRhodesian Bush War. I don't object strongly to the content being at Rhodesian Bush War, but would like the history to be merged. Gazpacho 20:29, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Converse (company) was apparently cut and pasted to Converse on 7 June 2006. Talk page history needs merging too. Hairy Dude 14:42, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Martial agleMartial Eagle - I copyedited this page, which was originally at Martial eagle. I wanted to move it to Martial Eagle to follow capitalization standards. In the moving process, I accidentally pressed enter instead of shift and moved the page to Martial agle. Then I moved Martial eagle (which was then a redirect to "Martial agle") to Martial Eagle, cut and pasted the content from Martial agle to Martial Eagle, and made Martial agle a redirect to Martial Eagle. This caused a split in the history with Martial agle and Martial Eagle. --Schzmo 13:49, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

  • The original text of Daniel Abraham, about a record producer, was replaced in this edit with text about a rugby player. Later, that article was moved to Daniel Abraham (rugby player), and a dab page created at Daniel Abraham. The old record producer text was then cut-and-pasted from the history to create the evilly named Daniel Abraham (record producer, mixer, engineer). Is it possible to sort out the page histories here, or should I just leave pointers on talk pages? — Catherine\talk 22:38, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
    • Done, although it was a pain (and you might consider renaming the Daniel Abraham (record producer, mixer, engineer) article). - Bobet 23:02, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
      • Thank you! I will fix the name -- sadly, all the other links to the article have already been changed (nothing quite like un/re-doing another editor's hard work). — Catherine\talk 23:07, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Template:Testarticle-n was recreated as Template:Test1article-n and redirected to there instead of moved. The latter template should have the history from the former. Note that I have not added the {{db-histmerge}} tag to Template:Test1article-n because that would then propogate into the template when it was used--not a good result.--Fuhghettaboutit 01:34, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
    • Done, although I'm not sure how useful it is to keep internal use templates GFDL compliant. And for future reference, you could use <noinclude> tags around the {{db-histmerge}} template to keep the message from being pasted into every use of the template. - Bobet 22:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
      • Thanks!. As for noinclude tags, I am well aware of them but you caught me on a day when I had sent my brain out for polishing.--Fuhghettaboutit 19:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Gulf War and it's talk page was cut and pasted to Gulf War I today. MER-C 07:02, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Continental rationalism to Rationalism. Rationalism was moved to Rationalist movement on 13 July 2006, presumably we need to keep this move in the history. Am I correct in thinking that the process would be to delete Rationalism, move continental rationalism over to rationalism, and then undelete this dif[8]? Banno 22:40, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

      • Looks perfect - thanks. Banno 21:41, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
There were originally two duplicate articles, Armatoloi and Armatoles (the latter being the much better article). The following happened:
  1. I turn Armatoloi into a redirect to existing Armatoles ([10])
  2. User:Sshadow, preferring the other name, turns Armatoles into a redirect to Armatoloi ([11]) and copy-pastes the contents to Armatoloi ([12]). The result is breaking the page histories.
  3. Then, User:Sshadow moves Armatoles (the redirect) to a third location, Armatoli. As Armatoles was already a redirect target from two other locations, the result now is a threefold redirect Armatolik/Armatoliki->Armatoles->Armatoli->Armatoloi.
I have no strong opinion about whether to have the article at Armatoloi or Armatoles, but I think the breaking of the page history is a problem. At the same time, I'd like to preserve the history of the old, obsolete Armatoloi article too (it might be needed for merging further bits of content.) To clean this up technically, perhaps the following would be good:
  1. revert the redirects made by User:Sshadow
  2. move the old Armatoloi article to a temporary subpage (Armatoloi/old)
  3. make a clean move from the good original Armatoles article to its preferred location Armatoloi (assuming that there are no strong objections from other editors.) This needs admin powers.
  4. Clean up the redirects from Armatoli, Armatolik, Armatoliki.
Thanks, Fut.Perf. 22:43, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I've merged Armatoli to Armatoloi, as the histories had been moved around a bit since you posted this request. Cleaning up the redirects now. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:52, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Ahem, no, not really - the moving around of the histories was confusing enough, but I think it was really only just those steps I described above. I see you've now merged the histories. I'd have personally preferred to keep them apart (the subpage solution I mentioned above), but I suppose it's okay like this too. Just makes it a bit involved reading the history. Fut.Perf. 22:55, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
We have to keep the histories together for GFDL compliance (and general sensibility, so it's clear who wrote what), as it requires us to attribute all authors (see Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License#4. MODIFICATIONS, B). Snoutwood (talk) 15:05, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Recently, editors have been making articles for the separate episodes of Xiaolin Showdown. What they didn't know (or didn't bother to check) was that there redirects for several episodes that were either once articles or had been made as redirects for when such an article would be made. I (regrettably) did some cut and paste moves to ameliorate the situation for two articles, and this one has not been dealt with yet. In the future, I will use WP:Requested moves. Ryulong 09:11, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
All of the articles in this list were tagged for speedy delete to do a history merge. They were taking up a lot of space in the speedy category, since they were not being deleted, so I brought them here (perhaps some were completed, though). My apologies if this was the wrong thing to do. Still, I think it would be easier to deal with the articles together. The current name is listed first and "the page to be merged here" according to the tag is second. -- Kjkolb 09:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Requests which cannot be fulfilled

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2006_%26lt%3Baugust-gen%26gt%3B_4 (can't seem to get it to show up in wiki markup) needs to be merged with the proper page, Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2006 August 4 . There was a screwup behind the scenes with a variable. -- nae'blis 22:12, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
    • There is something really weird going on with this one. I don't appear able to move the page for some reason, as every time I do it freezes up on me. I'm talking to the devs to see what's going on, but as of yet, I haven't found anyone able to move it. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
      • I can't do it either. Snoutwood (talk) 06:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
        • For the record, the buggy page has been deleted now (not that you can search for it in the deletion log, either). If I didn't have to code it as an external link, you'd see it's been redlinked, and the history copy-pasted into the correct article by hand. This can probably be closed now... hope all the other ones from that day/those days got caught, though. -- nae'blis 18:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Buckminster Fuller to R. Buckminster Fuller -- Not being an administrator, I was unable to effect this change due to a redirect already in place from the desired target. When I made a request for this to be done, it was erroneously put to a vote. My proposal is consistent with the [Wikipedia naming convention] and should therefore be carried out without further discussion.
You are incorrect in two ways: First, the naming convention says to use common names, which in this case would not be R. Buckminster Fuller, but Buckminster Fuller. Second, you must gain consensus before requesting a move such as this. If the move to R. Buckminster Fuller is agreed upon, bring it back. Otherwise, the move will not be performed.
