Merger

I feel that the article Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino should be merged with Warm Springs Indian Reservation as their is very little information pertaining to the casino and therefore, I do not feel that it is substantial enough to stand alone. T. White 09:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Happy Diwali

File:Diwalipuja.jpg
Happy Diwali!!!
Known as the "Festival of Lights" in India, Diwali symbolises the victory of good over evil. It represents celebration of hope and life, and is an occasion to strengthen relationships. This year, it is celebrated on November 13, 2024. I take this as an occasion to wish you the best in the days to come. May this Diwali invigorate you, bringing you more happiness and content. Happy Diwali!!!

Re: Something bothersome

Yeah, probably you are right. I should stop bothering about these lists. But, I'm gonna clean-up a lot of caste-POVed articles. While working on these caste categories, I came across horribly-POV articles. May be nobody looks at these articles (except people of those castes). I am neither Brahmin, nor Dalit (or for that matter Kshatriya or Vaisya), but my concern is that Wikipedia should not become a tool for glorifying castes. I will stop bothering about those lists now, though. utcursch | talk 02:46, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Abt Bhutan

Hi! Thanks for the response on Bhutanese refugees.

  • My point there was not about hatred. In South Asia people generally do not hate people. Nepalese and Bhutanese are very fine with each other which is clear from the fact the despite the persecution from Bhutanese Government, there have been no ethnic clashes. However, the governments and some notorious people manipulate facts to create rift among people. The same happened in Bhutan where the ruling portion of the Bhutanese population forced the ethnic Nepalese population to exile.
  • About Bhutan Government sanctioning Hindu festivals, Bhutan has a sizable population of Neplaese Hindus (some put it as high as 35%) plus the nation is heavily influenced by India. So, it is a duty for Bhutan to do so if it ever does so. Besides, people celebrate Eid in India but still one can not forget Gujarat massacare. The Government recognizes Dashami in Banagaladesh but still Hindus are in fringes there.
  • About whether the Druks are only against people Nepalese origin, well it might not be the case. The only Hindus in Bhutan are those of Nepalese origin. Besides, Nepal during that time was the only Hindu nation and persecution due to Nepalese identity was no different from that of Hindu identity. The only reason for these people's exile is that they are not Druks. Thats as similar to non-Muslims in Pakistan and yet people see so much difference between the two. Besides, the execution of Kashmiri Hindus by Muslims is also due to hatred against primarily Kashmaris yet its Hindu cleansing. The cover-up operation might be the hatred against people of Nepalese origin but the result is certainly the displacement and torture of Hindus because of their identity.--Eukesh 03:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
  • No need to thank me, sir. I just presented what the respected international bodies came to find about our part of the world. In fact, I need to thank you for the interest that you showed in my posts.--Eukesh 16:05, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Bakaman, I too wont be able to give much input on the above discussion, but in general, my take is that if there can be sufficient number of articles about each topic, create them and put them in a category. About recent issues

Bakaman, please accept to read this paragraph before cancelling it. I would really like all the war edits to end by now. I am ready to listen to your point of view and discuss with you, either in my talk page on on articles'. You've been extremely agressive against me these days, and underwent into systematic reversion processes, whith very much sarcasm and low content.

I am ready to listen to your point. I am very much in favour of Hinduism, so your accusations don't apply to me. Ok, I admit your political orientations are not mine but I don't pay too much attention to political considerations when they don't go too much into the extremism realm. I'm sure I can learn from you. In exchange, I am also sure I can share very interesting views with you on Indian matters.

The level of aggressivity than occured between us is not good: both of us will loose in the end. I am not a troll, it is true that I participate in few articles, but I know them in deep. So please accept to talk with me instead of war-editing. I will listen to your point. If you convince me I will defend your views. I don't like to go into RfCs. it's not a good way of doing things.

Now about Coom. I've been thinking on what you said about it. I admit that the reference is not a its proper place where is it now. So I accept to change the sentence in the article if you want. I think that referring to Coom. makes sense about Elst, but not in a Wikipedia article: it should be more appropriate to put forward the comparison in an analysis of Elst content, for example in a book. So I accept to modify that in the article with you if you want. But please let's do it in talk pages, not by war editing. I will not change it until we agree.

Please takes these considerations. Let us stop that now. Bye. TwoHorned 10:07, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Thanks

OK. Thanks to you too. About the Coomaraswamy quotation, here is what I propose:

After reflexion, my view is that drawing comparisons with Coomaraaswamy does make sense, but in the context of a comparative study, not an author presentation. So, after reflexion, I propose to remove the Coom. reference in the "See also" section, and to remove the "On the ideological side..." sentence in the Controversy section. After all, the ideological context of Elst's works are discussed in the Talk page of the article: the discussion between users Vinay Khatan and Alex Oriens is quite interesting in itself and illustrates quite well the debate. Since I am the author of that latter sentence, I think you will agree with that, but I insist in removing the Coom. reference from the "See also" section because Coom. perspective is not at all the same than Elst'.

Second, my point is that the Angelfire reference about Zydenbos page is malicious and tend to focus on the provider than the contents. I know that you like Elst and I don't like him but that is irrelevant: that controversy must be kept, because Elst is utterly politically controversial in Europe (he is also controversial by his viewpoint, both in India and Europe). So I propose to remove the "Angelfire" word and to leave it like "Zydenbos's home page" or something.

Would you agree on that ? I think that I'm balanced that way. Please tell me. Let's arrive to a consensus together. Thanks. TwoHorned 17:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Regarding TerryJ-Ho's anti-Hindu attitudes

I suggest you back it up by citing diffs from the desk page of the Tipu Sultan AMA, where TerryJ-Ho used anon ips and his own login to make some pretty nasty attacks on Hindus, showing a clear pattern of Islamist views.I'd do it, but my response is already so big that it's probably past the 500 word quota. The AMA Page is here:

In particular, these diffs:

  1. [4] (keep in mind that he still thinks that I am a Hindu)

  3. Also, his propensity for labelling users as "Hindutva" makes his accusation of my labelling him hypocritical.Hkelkar 19:11, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

1)Your source seems to be fanatical, uncredible, hoax, advertisement of ur culture/language. 2)You have not presented any online/soft copy of ur source and hence it is not verifiable. Failing to do so,I will be forced to remove ur citations. Mahawiki 19:15, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Kama & Artha are lower Purusharths is a wrong statement.

One could say for deploring Kama & Artha as lower Purusharths. It could have been said, just to make people move to Dharma & Moksha. Lot of Sanyasees try to deplore Kama & Artha, particularly Jain Sadhus try to create hate in the minds of people living family life.

Does one not need money to do one's religious duties or support Sanyasees or Brahmins or religious institutions? Krishna has said in Srimad Bhagawad Geeta that "Kama" is my "Vibhuti." In Hindu doctrines "Kama" is supported confining sexual pleasure with one's wedded spouse in the witness of fire (A form of God), Brahmin and society. Is it possible to conquer "Kama" by any average person? Vishwamitra also sliped. When Krishna declared "Kama" as Krishna's "Vibhuti" who are we to deplore "Kama"? Indian has n' number of Sanyasees. With due respect to Swami Bhaskaranandji, I say that anything said in a particular situation or a context should not be incorporated in an article like Wikipedia which shall remain on a public forum for a long long future. Hope everyone will see the damage being done to Hindusim and restrain from continuing with statements deploring 4 pursuits of life. Swadhyayee 14:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

I think it is better to change the "primary deity" part to "primary deities" because many temples, not just outside India have more than one principle deity. Please take a look into Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buddhism and Hinduism. My recent efforts have been to restore NPOV in many of these articles but they have come under vandal attacks from User:Green23, who has a history of vandal attacks relating to Buddhism related articles. Re: Regarding RfC

File a Request comment on articles. Step-by-step instructions (with example) are given on that page.

I had a look at Sarvagnya-Gnanapiti checkuser case, after Mahawiki left a note on my talk page. Since User:Aksi great and other admins were dealing with the case, I didn't look much into it. Sarvagnya says that he "sent emails to admins Blnguyen, dmc and aksi" making some clarifications, which probably explains why he wasn't blocked. User:Redvers's involvement here is news for me, though. utcursch | talk 10:15, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Indian American

Sorry for the delay. I notice that the situation has calmed now. I'm slightly baffled as to what actually triggered this row. If I am correct, you and D-Boy were reffering to this comment (the one that is being removed). As far as I can see, there are no indications that 71.x.x.... added that particular statement to the article. His edits to the article (namely these) seem to be good faith edits too. Something I'm missing, perhaps? Or was it all due to some confusion?--thunderboltz(Deepu) 16:09, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok. The section looks fine the way it is now. I'm not sure about your observation of "mainstream churches". Considering my knowledge in the field, I shouldn't even dare to comment. But I think almost all the Xtians in Kerala (or India for that matter) belong to one of these so called mainstream churches. There are sub denominations within, that are more ethnic in character. For example, a person can be a Roman Catholic following a Syrian tradition, thus becoming a "Roman Catholic Syrian Christian". Anyhow, this has nothing to do with the article. Buddhism and Hinduism

Thanks for taking interest in the matter, the guy and his sockpuppets were having a field day vandalizing this article. I worked hard and even put his POV in the article ([7] complete with another page for his excessive quotes and his selective, misinterpreted quotes from the sutras mentioned on the main page), even then he would'nt listen to Hinduism and Buddhism having as much as one percent in common. Thanks for taking interest in this. I appreciate it. Freedom skies 00:12, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I am perfectly aware of what is going on on the page. Sabrang is an extremist cesspool of hatred that doesnt meet WP:RS.Bakaman Bakatalk 00:51, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
You guys also said that New York Times and The Times shouldn't be used, so excuse me of being skeptical of your WP:RS citations. BhaiSaab talk 01:01, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Please watch that article closely. User:Fowler&fowler wants it put that the British exclusively abolished Sati whereas I contend (with refs supplied in the Talk Page) that Raja Ram Mohan Roy lobbied the British into doing it. The Bengal presidency ba prior to Roy is irrelevant as other bigger parts of India (like the Maratha Confederacy) had also banned Sati centuries ago.Hkelkar 07:05, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
