User:Alfshire/Archive 1
A tag has been placed on File:JonAlun1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. License tagging for File:Jon Christos photo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Jon Christos photo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:06, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

I have received an email containing an head shot image from a Wikipedia subject for use on their profile. As they approached me to use the image can I go ahead and upload it, and if so under what license?
Alfshire.
Alfshire (talk) 15:56, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- You will need to ask the person who sent you that image. By default, photos are copyrighted by the photographer (not the person depicted in the image), and we would need the copyright holder to release the image under a free license such as the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License. If we do not have evidence that the image has been released under such a license (and under which such license), we cannot use it. Merely being sent the image, or even being given permission to use it on Wikipedia, is not enough. See also WP:Requesting copyright permission and WP:Donating copyrighted materials. A page you started (Michele Mclaughlin) has been reviewed!
[edit]Thanks for creating Michele Mclaughlin, Alfshire!
Wikipedia editor Animalparty just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:
Please expand upon and summarize critical reviews, rather than just adding external links. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a directory of links. Avoid personal blogs and other user-generated or self-published content. ZoneMusicReporter.com looks suspect, and it is hardly worth mentioning non-notable or vanity awards (Akademia is an explicit artist promotion website).

Speedy deletion nomination of Il Destino (Classical Crossover Duo)
[edit]Hello Alfshire,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Il Destino (Classical Crossover Duo) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Ways to improve Glen Gabriel
[edit]Hi, I'm Markdask. Alfshire, thanks for creating Glen Gabriel!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Gabriel's IMDB entry would suggest he is in no way notable per Notability criteria
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
MarkDask 17:13, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Mark for your help. Re Glen Gabriel, I have added a couple of links from Wiki News as better citations, I do feel though he is notable in the respect that he is regularly hired by respected USA movie makers and award winning musicians, while on the other hand some previously unknown amateurs who appeared on talent shows like Xfactor and BGT are designated notable because they are prime time TV shows. I hope you can remove your tag while I work on his stub progress, or I can remove myself if ok. Regards, Alfshire (talk) 21:23, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
Ways to improve Adam Lacey
[edit]Hi, I'm Markdask. Alfshire, thanks for creating Adam Lacey!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Current list of references would suggest no notability per Notability criteria.

MarkDask 17:18, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Mark again for your help. Re Adam Lacey I added him because of his part in the duo Il Destino. I take the view Wikipedia readers would search for a link to his notable partner Jon Christos and my article would clarify Christos's departure from a solo artist to a group act. If you can remove your tag (or I will if ok) I will keep a watch on its progress as stub. Regards,Alfshire (talk) 21:33, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi Alfshire - congrats on the recently added references which, in my view, satisfy WP:COMPOSER. I note the BLP Notability tag I placed there has now been removed by Lacypaperclip, but given the article was declined by Onel5969 twice, (Dec 24, '15, and again on Jan 7, 2016), and given also that s/he is (by edit count) 20 times more experienced than me, I feel s/he should have final say in whether or not Glen Gabriel now meets the necessary standards. MarkDask 09:31, 29 November 2017 (UTC) 14:38, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Mark, I took your advice when creating a new article for opera singer Jeffrey Lawton, I think it is one of my better articles as a result. Alfshire (talk) 17:37, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
