What is a system?

Regarding the "Release years by system" heading in the table; What entails a system? Is Personal computer a system? It seems so according to List of Blizzard Entertainment games. Personally I have never seen a game released "for personal computers"; They are usually a bit more system specific than that. - Soulkeeper (talk) 12:18, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
