Template-protected edit request on 30 March 2021

The parameter "other posts" (plural) is inconsistent with the parameter "previous post" (singular). I would suggest that they be converted to read "other post(s)" and "previous post(s)", respectively, or that two new alternative parameters, namely "other post" and "previous posts", be created. Bahnfrend (talk) 12:35, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Yes, please; I often forget which is canonical. DBD 20:29, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
Can someone please action my edit request? - @Jonesey95: @Ergo Sum: @Dreamy Jazz: - it has been supported by another editor. I'd like to update a group of infoboxes, and it seems sensible to wait until the requested edit has been done. Thanks in advance. Bahnfrend (talk) 03:09, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Title in italics

Why is the result of |title= in italics? Thanks, SchreiberBike | ⌨  02:15, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Template-protected edit request on 8 October 2021

Change the output of |title= from italics to regular (roman) text. I don't know of any reason why it would be in italics in Wikipedia style and when I asked above, there was no answer.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  19:57, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Done I don't see a MOS-related reason to have any person's title in italics. I have removed that formatting. If there are objections based on a valid MOS-related reason, I will be happy to undo the change and have a discussion here. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:03, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Adding office parameter to Infobox Christian leader

To the template editors and administrators, please add the 'office' parameter to Infobox Christian leader. It will enable a more effortless experience for a quick glance or a first time user and it would also eliminate the need for the 'previous_posts' parameter. Denomination vs. Religion

There should be an option to change the rendering of the category tag 'religion' to actually read 'religion' vs. 'denomination' for select articles. The latter is appropriation for most Christian leaders. However, the term 'denomination' is foreign to Orthodox Christianity, and is inaccurate with respect to how Orthodox view their religion. In their view, Orthodoxy is a desciptive property, therefore to describe it as a 'denomination' is a categorical error. Thanks! --JeNH1919 (talk) 17:31, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

I support this suggestion. It seems odd that in the top part of the infobox there is a "church" parameter, and that in the lower half there is a "religion" parameter. In most if not all cases, it would be more appropriate for the latter parameter to be replaced with a "denomination" parameter, as a "church" is by definition a Christian building, congregation or denomination, and therefore it would normally go without saying that the subject's "religion" is Christianity. Further, the "religion" parameter was removed from Template:Infobox person in 2016 (for the reasons explained in the documentation to that infobox), and I am wondering whether that parameter should simply be removed from this infobox as well, and replaced by "denomination". Birth name

To bring the template in line with {{Infobox person}} and most other biographical infoboxes, could the subject's birth name be placed above their birth date in the "Born" field? I have placed the necessary code in the sandbox. Thanks, Graham (talk) 05:38, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Saints

Is it possible to work in the colour from the 'saints' infobox? It seems silly to have two infoboxes on canonised bishops and cardinals, as some pages do, especially when the canonisation details are included at the bottom of this infobox. It could be an option in the 'type' parameter - so instead of writing cardinal, one would write saint. Mangwanani (talk) 16:26, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

To editor Mangwanani: it is possible; however, the question remains as to whether or not there is consensus to do so. Especially if the |type= parameter is to be altered, it would mean the need to change some infoboxes to reflect the |type=saint argument rather than whatever argument at which it is presently set, such as |type=Pope. That would not only change the background color, it would change other parts of the infobox that also rely on the |type= parameter. Consensus should be garnered and achieved before such an edit can be made. Thank you for your contributions and your help to improve Wikipedia! Could somebody clarify in the template how to note the subcategory of sainthood? Daniel the Monk (talk)

Template-protected edit request on 31 May 2022

Under Template:Infobox Christian leader#Template Data, it should be noted that setting the parameter Type will alter the colour of the heading. Colorboxes could be a useful way to illustrate this.

Current text: Type of leader (Priest, Pope, Cardinal, Antipope, or Coptic Pope). If the leader is none of these, leave blank to default to Bishop.

Suggested text: Type of leader (Priest, Pope, Cardinal, Antipope, or Coptic Pope). If the leader is none of these, leave blank to default to Bishop. The heading background will change to  grey for Priest ,  yellowish for pope ,  pink for cardinal  and  violet for all other settings . OJH (talk) 15:10, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Not done: According to the page's protection level you should be able to edit the page yourself. If you seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:01, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Parents

{{Infobox person}} comes with this explanation/guidance for the |parents= parameter:

Names of parents; include only if they are independently notable or particularly relevant.

{{Infobox Christian leader}} does not include the same guidance about notability/relevance of the parents. Should the guidance for {{Infobox Christian leader}} be updated for the |parents= parameter to match that in {{Infobox person}}? I think it should since the purpose of any infobox is to summarize key points (see MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE) and including the names of non-notable/not-relevant parents seems, to me, not to be summarizing key points. I invite others to discuss here. Archer1234 (talk) 12:32, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

I agree that these should be the inclusion criteria. Elizium23 (talk) 12:52, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
While my question has not generated much discussion in the month since I asked it, there has been no disagreement, so I intend, later today, to update the documentation as indicated. If anyone disagrees, they can revert the update and come here to discuss further. – Archer1234 (talk) 15:57, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
