Fusion of Dragon Slayer & The Legend of Heroes series
[edit]@User:Sergecross73 Apologies. I have moved ahead with the fusion of the two templates. The Legend of Heroes is a "spin-off" or sub-series that spawend from Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes - the same also counts for Xanadu, for that matter. While, now, the Dragon Slayer title may have been dropped, I do not see any point having multiple templates for the same franchise. Especially when there's crossover for multiple installments, having two templates display the same thing for multiple entries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkKyoushu (talk • contribs) 23:32, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- The series diverged decades ago, and there's many entries for each series, that are not connected, populating each separate template. Only the first two Legend of Heroes titles overlapped, and there's now 10+ titles Legend of Heroes/Trails entries that have no association. There's no need to merge them. - Less diverged, moreso dropped it's prior title as it went on and the - then - subtitle became more known. The claim in the article that the "association was dropped" in the article is unsourced. It's needlessly confusing. Franchises with akin examples, like Template:Living Dead, Template:X-COM, Template:Xeno series aren't split into multiple templates either. But unlike those templates, this franchise is still being made by the same company, without any parallel "Dragon Slayer" games being developed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkKyoushu (talk • contribs) 20:09, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm familiar with the Xeno template - I wrote and organized it. It was created like that because they all have Xeno in the title, and the president of Nintendo had identified it as a series in a reliable source - Wired (magazine). Do you have any similar sources that group the two (LOH and Dragon Slayer) as one collective series? Sergecross73 msg me 02:19, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

- A more relevant example would be Super Mario (series) and Wario (franchise). Despite Wario starting off with Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, they've since split into separate series, and have their own templates. Sergecross73 msg me 02:29, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
- There isn't any specific source (to my knowledge) directly stating that they are the same series; Same of which applies the other way around also. I was going by that the "Dragon Slayer" title was simply completely dropped with The Legend of Heroes II, after Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes. But I was looking at some more templates since, to see if this'd make any sense, but it's no different than there being Persona and SMT templates, I suppose. But there is one more question, and something I changed when I did the edit: There is no source on Lord Monarch being a Dragon Slayer title, so I had removed it. I'd redo that edit, as well as add a clickable Dragon Slayer in the first row of the The Legend of Heroes series template. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkKyoushu (talk • contribs) 09:15, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
