Thanks for bringing this to the talk page. Yes, that was the intention because not all anarchists are socialists. There is a lot of overlap, but I don't think they should be fully nested for several reasons. As far as I'm aware Anarchism predates socialism. Mason (talk) 16:34, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing to be convinced, but just stating that Anarchists are socialists isn't very convincing. There are anarchists that predate socialism, so it doesn't seem to me that early anarchism would be nested within socialism AND libertarianism. Mason (talk) 17:11, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why you're taking this abrasive approach. I signaled clearly that I was willing to change my mind. I noted that your generic statement wasn't convincing, which is effectively an invitation for you to provide early examples that are defined as socialist and anarchists.
I didn't mean for that to come off as abrasive and I'm truly sorry it did. That said, the above link only distinguishes anarchism from utopian socialism, not socialism in general. Wikiedia itself states;
The history of socialism has its origins in the Age of Enlightenment and the 1789 French Revolution, along with the changes that brought, although it has precedents in earlier movements and ideas.
Thanks; now that context is extremely helpful because I thought of socialism as originating in the 19th century. I'll spend some time to get the template to properly populate to the respective subcategories. Mason (talk) 20:49, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, maybe I don't understand what you want the template to do, that it isn't currently doing? I updated it to add the parent categories of libertarianism and socialism, which it is doing. Are you wanting it to also have the see alsos for both those categories? Mason (talk) 01:25, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
