- @Soman: Drive-by comment, but I couldn't help but notice the NYU hook, since I have several family members and friends who graduated from NYU. The hook, as currently worded, feels somewhat like it's under-emphasizing Massaquoi's later importance as a military leader. How about something like this:
- ALT1: ... that Francois Massaquoi, who studied economics at New York University, later led the Lofa Defense Force during the First Liberian Civil War?
ALT2: ... that Francois Massaquoi, who once ran a food importation business in New York, later led the Lofa Defense Force during the First Liberian Civil War?
- As a New Yorker myself, I don't know too many NYU-educated economists or food importers who later became military leaders in Liberia. That's why I think these may be a lot more interesting to the casual reader. Epicgenius (talk) 19:29, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'd be ok with ALT1. --Soman (talk) 20:06, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Unfortunately, I can't review hooks that I've proposed, so I am requesting that someone else conduct a full review of this nomination. Epicgenius (talk) 20:32, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'd be ok with ALT1. --Soman (talk) 20:06, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- ... New enough, long enough, no copyvio issues, QPQ provided. Approving ALT1 - short enough, interesting, in article and followed by citations to references with hook fact (one ref I can't access). Thanks both. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:46, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
