Burning of Southwark
[edit]- ... that the English settlement of Southwark was burned by the Normans in 1066? "he set fire to the village of Southwark and burned it to the ground" (p24)
- ALT1:... that the 1066 defence of Southwark dissuaded William the Conqueror from marching into London directly? "it proved to be enough to dissuade the Duke not to attempt to take London by storm across the river" (p103)

Article is new and long enough, no copyvio concerns. The hook is interesting - I have done numerous London DYKs myself but I did not know about this, well done. Have to AGF as the source is offline Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:04, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
