Title
[edit]Is it certain that the title is Gli zingari and not just Zingari? If indeed the former, I suggest to move this article to Gli zingari which has only 1 incoming link, and that (from Carmen Melis) is meant for the opera. That REDIRECT (to I Zingari) has no editing history, so a move would not require an administrator's assistance. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:26, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- Given the overwhelming number of sources [1]. I'd say yes the complete title is Gli zingari. The definite article was probaby left out of the cover of the score for artistic reasons. On the other hand, note the works list at La Fondazione Ruggero Leoncavallo. I'd have no objection to moving the title over the redirect. I Zingari (an amatuer cricket club) is pretty obscure. It might need a hatnote, though. Voceditenore (talk) 08:47, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Cripes! I'm beginning to wonder... Observe the Italian OPAC entries [2]. All of them list it as simply "Zingari". This may well be a "Palgiacci/I pagliacci" case. Voceditenore (talk) 10:58, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- I started to wonder when I noticed the gli-less entry at it:Ruggero Leoncavallo and several other places, including on page 790 of The Standard Operaglass, which is cited in the opera article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk)

- I just found a scan of the original libretto [3]. This is the clincher. It's titled Zingari (see title page). So now what? At the moment Zingari redirects to Names of the Romani people#Tsigani, cigány. The only article linked to that redirect is The opera corpus, which is referring to this opera. - I don't think this article can usurp that REDIRECT, which leaves Zingari (opera) as article name. The article Names of the Romani people would need a hatnote:
{{Redirect|Zingari|the opera by Leoncavallo|Zingari (opera)}}
. I still think that the REDIRECT Gli zingari should be changed to point to the opera. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:44, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

That seems like the best solution. I'm going to do it before there get to be too many incoming links. Voceditenore (talk) 13:53, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
