Merge

[edit]

This channel name is just "Zindagi" not "Zindagi TV". SO it should be moved to a better title like "Zindagi (TV channel)". As someone already created the article with this title so this one should be merged with Zindagi (TV channel). UBStalk 07:52, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple issues

[edit]

We are writing an encyclopedia article about the channel, NOT providing free advertising promotion for "forthcoming" events / pretending to be a TV guide.

As such it is irrelevant and inappropriate to list content /programming that is not original to Zindagi, merely dubbed reruns.

And ALL content is required to be supported by reliably published sources with the majority of content based on third party sources. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:33, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We are adding the TV series broadcast by Zindagi with links to original wiki pages because the network often changes the original names of the programmes prior to transmission. Consider the comment on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/ZeeZindagiTV/photos/a.228970673964964.1073741828.225241597671205/363921390469891/?type=1&comment_id=363924777136219. By listing the programs that the network uses to telecast with links to the programme wiki, we hope that those visiting the page will also want to visit the wiki pages of the programmes listed on this site. Should we not link to the original as the network operators may not want people to know that the original and correct title of the series?

Also, the channel also has a VERIFIED PAGE https://www.facebook.com/ZeeZindagiTV. That means that we can assume that the information posted on that page is correct. By linking to appropriate post Facebook post on that page, are we not posting verified information? If linking to Facebook on a VERIFIED FB page is promoting the programme, then so be it. By removing all the references to series previously broadcast, I would like to point out that the wikipedia page has been reduced to a blurb that a publicist would release anyway. Is that the idea, then it is my opinion that this page has been completely neutered and is provides absolutely no information in any shape or form. I would like to point out to TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom that the programming content is licensed, not dubbed. You should at least get your facts correct in this regard. It is not my intention to indulge in mudslinging, but to point out the reasons as to why we are listing the TV series previously broadcast. With respect to your point that Wikipedia is not a programming guide, I would like to point out there are numerous wikipedia pages dedicated to just that. You will find many other examples of the same. Will you apply the same standards to these pages as well?

I am not sure what to say other than most of your rational appears to directly violate WP:NOTADVERT and none of it appears to have a basis in any other policy. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 02:03, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you will remember this when you look at the following page and numerous others of it's ilk.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_NBC. Listing programming information is not advertising, nor is linking to posts on verified Facebook pages represent lack of citation. Companies are active on social media nowadays and regularly update their official Facebook pages. You will do well to move on with the times. No one visits the wikipedia page for networks to read publicity blurbs. -- User talk:ManOfLogan
and if people want promotional content regularly updated content from the company, they should go to the company's facebook page. Wikipedia, however is an encyclopedia, not a promotional arm of the television company. What we present, how we source it and how we present it, is different.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:06, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moving forward

[edit]

@Divy(a)95 and Siddharth TheGreat: @ManOfLogan: While the article is under protection we can discuss how to move forward on the article. There are some things that I am sure we can come to an agreement on, and some things that are non-negotiable.

Non-negotiable:

For discussion:

  • Which programs have been specifically created for / originally broadcast on Zindagi. Definitely appropriate WITH acceptable sourcing.

I look forward to your comments with sources and policies to back your suggestions. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:00, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The whole premise of the channel is that it syndicates programs made in other countries, modifies the original title of the program to obscure its origins, and then telecasts it. The reference of the programs telecast is its Facebook page and twitter account. They don't get published in the TV guide or any magazines of its kind. The admins think that it is tantamount to publicity if we link to the Facebook post, even if it is a canonical source of reference. Any sources of references acceptable to the admins is a link to some website, because that would not be publicity. What is wrong in linking to a Facebook post, especially if it is a canonical reference? Let me try to address your questions once by one?
Promoting "forthcoming" shows: Not going to happen. We are not a free promotional platform
Why don't you apply the same standard to other pages? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_NBC#Upcoming_series. This network shows syndicated programming all the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STAR_World#Programming Why is this page still up? The fact is that we are fully willing to link to appropriate, verified sources, but the admins won't accept Facebook posts or tweets as verifiable sources.
Times of programs: Not going to happen. We are not a TV guide.
We show the dates the shows were broadcast. If we don't include the times, that would mean that we are not a TV guide. That would work, would it not?
Names of shows that were originally created and broadcast on other channels: Not going to happen. This is the article about Zindagi and what Zindagi has done.
That is the whole premise of the network; to display syndicated content from other networks... They don't create any original content. Why can't we list the shows that they have broadcast? If that is not acceptable, why is this page still up? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STAR_World#Programming
This link fails your criteria on all counts. Not only do they show all programs that they are broadcasting currently or have broadcasted, but all the upcoming programs.
We edit the page because we and the other people who see this page, find useful, up to date information on it. Removing the shows broadcast by the network leaves nothing of any value on the page. This could be just a publicity blurb. What if we created a page called List Of Programs Broadcast By Zee Zindagi? The wikipedia consensus is to keep it and maintain it, which we have shown that we are willing to do. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lists_of_programs_broadcast_by_networks

Again you are describing why you want to turn this article into a substitute for the channels' own promotional pages which is not going to happen. We are writing an encyclopedia article. As a starting point, can you agree that Writing an Encyclopedia is our purpose here? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 23:33, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that Wikipedia should be an online encyclopedia with proper verified references and citations. The proper verified references just happen to be Facebook posts and Tweets. Many networks choose to keep the shows' details up to date on their Facebook pages and Twitter accounts. The website don't have that information. We wish to link to them. As a proper encyclopaedia should, we want to display the dates any show was broadcast on Zee Zindagi. We also want to display the shows being currently broadcast. I am sure that you will agree that there are numerous examples of that on wikipedia itself. We want to show any forthcoming shows. Why can't we show that information in a nice tabular format instead of a list? Tables are sortable, lists are not. There are many wiki pages for networks that do just that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_CBS for more details User talk:ManOfLogan — Preceding undated comment added 00:04, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You dont seem to be aware that article content should be primarily based upon what THIRD PARTIES have to say about the subject and not the twits and facebook promotional blurbs put out by the subject. And you seem to be interpreting "encyclopedia" as "PR platform" . -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 00:35, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In your opinion, what does this page do, if not promote the programs? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_HBO

Regards to your comment about wikipedia not being a PR platform, I am not suggesting that it is one, rather it be an index of programs that have been broadcast on the channel. According to the wiki created by wikipedia admins, we can allowed to create a list of programs broadcast by the networks. Have you read this article by wikipedia admins? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lists_of_programs_broadcast_by_networks If I were to create a list of references, can we put the list of programs back in again? User talk:ManOfLogan

Programs that were created BY the channel or originally broadcast by the channel, if sourced, are appropriate. Syndications and dubs are not. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 08:37, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

asking about removal of information

[edit]

i have noticed that information described in page is continuously going to deleted. i want to ask why and second thing there must be list of shows which the channel have already telecasted and some them also which are currently telecasting.--Gaurav Jhammat (talk) 09:27, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

for multiple reasons 1) lacking appropriate sourcing 2) this is the article about Zindagi and so lists of content created and broadcast by other channels and merely syndicated by Zindagi is not relevant to this article. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 15:04, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

i have created this article in my local language punjabi (pa.org) and i have given list of all shows but no refrence of them. what should i do now? should i use that references where these shows telecast in Pakistani channels?--Gaurav Jhammat (talk) 04:19, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

each language functions separately and has its own rules about content and customs about how they are applied, but readers are always better served when they have access to sources that verify the claims. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 07:13, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editing by 122.163.246.224

[edit]

On a few occasions [11][12][13][14], 122.163.246.224 has submitted a list of selected dramas. I've rejected a portion of this content (specifically the unnecessary selection) and the other aspects were rejected by TheRedPenOfDoom. The IP needs to seek consensus here. I don't have a problem with providing a {{Main}} link to the List of programs broadcast article, but having a selection of dramas on top of that is useless and a cruft magnet. If someone is interested in seeing the programs broadcast, they can click the link. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:04, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Change the name

[edit]

Channel changed their name from Zindagi to Zee Zindagi officially, so please move this page to new name. 2402:3A80:66A:7609:8553:F201:5177:D93A (talk) 04:56, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello editors, this article has lack of reference and it's not up-to-date. So can we merge Zindagi (TV channel) to Zee TV#Zee Zindagi. TruxtVerified (talk) 12:07, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
