Chi Nan TempleZhinan Temple – The Republic of Taiwan has adopted pinyin as its official romanization medium. It is used extensively by the Taiwanese government and by native and non-native Chinese speakers around the world. --Relisted. • Support. None of factors mentioned in the nomination are actually good reasons to move the article, but the proposed form is used in Lonely Planet Taiwan. H. Humbert (talk) 02:10, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The most common English-language form of the name is "Zhinan". I live next to this mountain. The Chinese transliterated spelling of the temple is "Zhinan". It is listed by the city government on the addresses of "Zhinan Road", it is used for the name of the mountain "Zhinan mountain," and it is used exclusively by Google maps. The only location still labeled 'Chihnan', 'Chinan', or 'Chin-nan' is the temple on wikipedia and on outdated websites before the name was changed years ago. • Support* per WP:UE: "However, if there is a common English-language form of the name, then use it, even if it is unsystematic." The most common transliteration should be used, which is "Zhinan". Zhinan is the most common form. It is also the standard transliteration form for Taipei (official government law) and arguably the standard form for Chinese words in the world (prevalence of pinyin vs. wade-giles).Robloblaws (talk) 15:40, 21 June 2015 (UTC) Double vote by nominator. --George Ho (talk) 21:54, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is used for the Taiwan tourism website: Engish Taiwan .net Zhinan Temple It is used for the station name at the same locale by the city of Taipei: Zhinan Temple Station And also by Wikipedia for the station name for the temple: Wiki Zhinan Temple Station It is used for the mountain which has the same name: Zhinan Mountain It is used by the post office, for the road of the same name: TW POST Zhinan Branch It is used by the local elementary school named after the temple Zhinan Elementary School It is used by other parts of Wikipedia, in wikimapia, for roads of the same origin: WikiMapia Zhinan Road All of these places have the same name in Chinese. That is indisputable. The only issue is how it is transliterated, which has been demonstrated to be overwhelmingly as "Zhinan" Robloblaws (talk) 14:36, 21 June 2015 (UTC) Double vote by nominator. --George Ho (talk) 21:54, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per WP:UE: "A name can be considered as widely accepted if a neutral and reliable source states: "X is the name most often used for this entity". Without such an assertion, the following sources may be helpful in establishing a widely accepted name... Disinterested, authoritative reference works are almost always reliable if they are current. Examples include: major English-language encyclopedias...widely used atlases...databases such as the Geographic Names Information System;maps... whether printed or electronic...English-language news media can also be very reliable sources. Due caution must be given to the possibility of bias in some, such as for nationalistic, religious or political reasons. However, major global sources are generally reliable, such as major authoritative English-language newspapers (examples: The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Times of London) or wire services (examples: Reuters, Associated Press)."

Using this convention, a simple Google News search using "Chi nan Temple" (in quotes) resulted in no results other than this wikipedia page in question. A Google News search using the "Zhinan Temple" (in quotes) however resulted in 6 recent stories (from 2011 to 2015) including the following sources: Taipei Times-Zhinan Temple Times Union blog-Zhinan Temple Taipei Times-Zhinan TempleTaipei Times The Star-Zhinan Temple Robloblaws (talk) 15:23, 21 June 2015 (UTC) Double vote by nominator. --George Ho (talk) 21:54, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
