Re-written
[edit]I've just rewritten this, mainly for copy editing, a little factual accuracy, and written English style. Partly it avoids some very short sentences and repetitive elements (in particular in respect to the various debuts), partly it's avoiding quite so many colloquialisms and non-standard English. I've also moved the style section to the bottom which is where it would usually be. I've re-used some references and been able to remove the odd CricketArchive one. We could probably find prose sources to replace some of the scorecard ones without too many problems.
I suspect that we could merge the early life and early career sections without losing anything very much as well.
I will admit at this point to being a little surprised that this was elevated with Good Article status with at least one obvious written English error and with a number of obvious other issues - for example, I find no evidence that he is "popularly known" as anything other than Will; one journalist doesn't make something popular at all. - GA status, date close paraphrase check checks out. Nevertheless, I think ALT1 "that cricketer William O'Rourke has best the match-bowling figures by a New Zealander on a Test debut?" could be considered since terms like "match-bowling" or "Test debut" are not universally known terms. Added "a" ahead of "Test debut". --Soman (talk) 10:23, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
