Merge from Apologitic proverb
[edit]The proverb doesn't seem to be anything but a messy article on the Dutch version of Wellerisms, which themselves don't appear to be significantly different from Wellerisms. --maru (talk) contribs 15:40, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think it should be the other way around. This article should be merged with Apologitic proverb, if only because Wellerisms are apologitic proverbs but the Dutch variants aren't wellerisms. --Rex 16:17, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, there definitely should be a merge of some sort. Incidentally, is that page actually spelled right? The first time I saw the diff I did a double-take because I thought I saw "Apologetic proverb". --maru (talk) contribs 16:26, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
If "apologitic" is the adjective form of "apologism" it is. Rex 17:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure the adjectival form is "apologetic", not "apologitic". --maru (talk) contribs 18:03, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
In that case I'll fix that first. Rex 19:43, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Unless there are any more objections, I will make this page into a redirect. Rex 20:56, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
A dictionary of wellerisms

Explanations
[edit]Many of them require explanations, especilly the foreign ones, as it was done e.g., by Dundes. Loew Galitz (talk) 23:02, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
By the way, the allegedly Armenian one is not at all: it is Russian. And the way it is given here it is meaningless. The Russain version as a cholr children's tale, makes more sense. "I caught a bear! - Good! Bring it here! - But it wouldn't go! - Come here yourself, then!- But it wouldn't let me!", [1] -- Recorded by Vladimir Dahl in 19th century in his Proverbs of the Russian People Loew Galitz (talk) 23:02, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
Original research tag
[edit]I seriously doubt that numerous examples from other languages are called wellerisms in the sources. - Altenmann >talk 03:10, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
