- How about an "in popular culture" section Volterra is featured in Stephenie Meyer's "New Moon"? All I can think of.
- ah, there the vampire reference came from. :Leuk he 15:26, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Original Civilization
[edit]The article states that Volterra had an "original civilization." I have no idea what the heck that is supposed to mean. Does anyone else have a clue? 58.6.131.227 (talk) 15:33, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
--Most of this article is unsourced material and inappropriate tourist information that makes this article seem like it's being put together by a chamber of commerce rather than being a Wikipedia article. Edit warring by constantly hitting undo when Wikipedia's policies are inconvenient is inappropriate. - Aoidh (talk) 13:50, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- I wanna know exactly what is unsourced. For now you are too generic. Thanks. --Chiorbone da Frittole (talk) 13:57, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, what exactly are you asking? Are you saying that you've been hitting "undo" and edit warring without actually understanding the issue? Content requires an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution. The content I removed does not have that. There is nothing "generic" about that; if the article makes a claim, it needs a source backing up that claim. If someone removed such an unsourced claim and you think it should be in the article, you are required to add a source before you restore it. As to what exactly is unsourced, everything I removed. - Aoidh (talk) 14:03, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- So you're saying that we need sources that support the facts that in Volterra exists a Cathedral, a Roman Theatre, the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum and the Etruscan walls? I see. Basically we need sources that support the existence itself of Volterra. Anyway, I do not have much time to lose, I'm going to improve the article as soon as possible. --Chiorbone da Frittole (talk) 14:14, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying, that if you make a claim, you have to back up that claim. More to the point, if you're going to include a section that says "main sights", you need sources showing that they are relevant to the article. I'm sure most buildings in the city also have electricity and plumbing, but you don't see that included in the article because no sources are given that show that this is relevant information to the article. You need to show that not only does something exist, but that it is relevant, per WP:DUE. - Aoidh (talk) 14:26, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- "I'm sure most buildings in the city also have electricity and plumbing, but you don't see that included in the article", you're definitely kidding me. --Chiorbone da Frittole (talk) 14:33, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- It's an extreme example to show why just because you think something needs to be included, doesn't mean it does. Please see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Just because "Volterra has some events that occur" doesn't mean those events need to be listed, unless there are sources showing that they are relevant. - Aoidh (talk) 14:47, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
