CCHT external link
[edit]This link was added to the article after discussion on the WP Reliable Sources Noticeboard. See: WP:RSN exercise. No information from the CCHT link has been put into the body of the article in the form of citations because it has not yet been verified for 100% accuracy by the Victoria County History project for Cumbria. Proposed Governance section
[edit]Following a brief discussion at Devokewater's talk page, here's a first stab at a Governance section. I've lifted the second para from the article almost in its totality. Please add to, amend or delete material as appropriate.
Ulverston is within the area of South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) in the county of Cumbria. As such, some local government responsibilities fall to SLDC while others are handled by the county council. Ulverston Town Council is responsible for some parochial matters.
The town is within the wider civil parish of Ulverston. This historic entity is bounded in the east by the Leven estuary, the River Crake, Coniston Water and Yewdale Beck. To the west the boundary follows a chain of hills, and beyond that lie the towns of Kirkby-in-Furness and Askam and Ireleth. To the south is relatively low land, which rises quickly. In the north are hills such as Coniston Old Man. The settlements of the parish are mainly concentrated in the eastern part.

- Works well for me too thank you DBaK (talk) 22:19, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Declaration of serious COI – I was here for a couple of nights with a touring opera company (Opera 80) in 1980 or 81 or something equally unrecent. I stayed at the pub at Canal Foot and thought it was an amazing and interesting place. Obviously anything I say about Canal Foot and the pub will inevitably be wildly skewed by my terrible COI and must be taken with several pinches of salt, though I must say it sounds like the pub might be doing better now than it seemed to be then ... Cheers DBaK (talk) 22:19, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- The Bay Horse [1]. It used to be owned by John Tovey, though not, I think, in 1980. I guess it's more of a restaurant and less of a pub now. Arcturus (talk) 22:27, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for that Arcturus. It certainly didn't seem to me to have that vibe then, so I think you are probably right! I must go back one of these days. :) Cheers DBaK (talk) 11:38, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
