The trend in this ship piece it beginning to include what is beginning to look like an article on the Navy's total survey program rather than the essentially hydrographic survey mission and operational history of this ship. That would make a good subject, but some being introduced here has almost nothing to do with the essentially coastal hydrographic mission of this particular ship though there were occasional deep water missions. Further, two citations tied to such subjects do not deal with the ship at all—they deal with the ship's namesake, Matthew Fontaine Maury. There are other problems that appear to be related to personal knowledge and not well cited. One that uses a cite to a tribute site misquotes that in "the Maury’s printing plant for the first time in naval history there generated and printed on board in 1967 for immediate distribution multicolored field survey charts" when the tribute site has "During the 1967 survey MAURY printed the first multicolored field charts since World War II" (Seen a few of those on board printed WW II charts personally).
