[edit]I have checked the track of Typhoon Nuri and its eye did pass through the Calayan Group of Islands, which are part of Cagayan Province. Should it count as landfall? Sonpudong (talk) 09:50, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- yes it does count as a landfall and is already reflected within the Storm history Jason Rees (talk) 16:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
I was actually in Hong Kong during Typhoon Nuri. After taking a flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific Airlines, the flight landed and all subsequent flights during the afternoon were all cancelled. Strong winds and rain uprooted trees up to approximtely 10" in diameter. As winds increased I noticed many of the Chinese citizens leaving to the buses to head inland. Upon heading inland to the New Kings Hotel where I waited out the storm, weather was slightly better, although the streets were deserted (I took a bunch of pictures as well as video of the events). Upon taking the bus back to the airport at 6am on 8/23, the streets were littered with debree, uprooted trees, lightposts, and steel barracade stantions. When we arrived at the airport at 6:30am on August 23rd, the airport was clogged with stranded travelers and the airport was complete chaos.
