Simultaneous category 5s?

[edit]

According to 8:10 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63Hy9JvV-0Q they are category 5s at the same time. I propose adding this if additional verification can be found. 32ieww (talk) 17:09, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How notable is it that Ivan and Joan were Cat 5's at the same time, on the SSHWS and Aus scales which are both unofficial scales for the basin.Jason Rees (talk) 17:19, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
More relevant to the season page, and even then, SSHS is not officially used in the basin. I'm sure this verifiable though. YE Pacific Hurricane 20:46, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
JTWC's Best track can be used as a source, and it is a rare event. I only remember 3 instances of 2 simultaneous SSHWS Category 5 cyclones. ABC paulista (talk) 01:37, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
