Suggestions:
- Crucial:
- Lead should probably mention he won a Grey Cup with the Roughriders Done
- Nothing on his life prior to college? Birth place, hometown, high school? Done
- Let me know if it needs more. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 20:54, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- Tone down on all-caps in citations. Done
- "....only two linebackers on the Roughriders who escaped injury..." escaped → avoided. Done
- "...to be named Defensive Player of the Week." I assume this is CFL Defensive Player of the Week (as opposed to team or conference)? Who gave the honor (e.g. the Associated Press, the league itself, etc)?
- I can't access the sources in the article, will have to ask Rob. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 21:29, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- This is a league-wide award given by the league. I've emphasized this by saying "the CFL's Defensive Player of the Week". ~ Rob13Talk 09:25, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

- "...and was named the Roughriders' nominee for the Rookie of the Year award" Is something that can be wikilinked here? CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award? Done
- "...but Alipate's playing time was limited mostly to special teams" is not explicitly supported by the source given.
- @Lizard the Wizard: Can you take another look at this source? Specifically, I think these sentences support what I've said: "Zauner believes that the Vikings have found an answer to last season's deficiencies with the acquisition of special teams specialist and linebacker Jeff Brady among others. The Vikings also acquired Tuineau Alipate, who played a similar role for the New York Jets." By saying Alipate played a similar role to a special teams specialist, that means he was used primarily on special teams (at least to my understanding). ~ Rob13Talk 09:28, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- What I meant was the immediate citation (his NFL.com profile page) didn't support that he was primarily a special teams player. It supports the first part of the sentence though, so I'd move the footnote to after the comma and place the citation you've quoted above after the sentence. - This article from Nov 17, 1995 says he currently has 9 special teams tackles. These Aug 1996 articles say he "usually earns a spot with his special teams play" and "special-teams standout". Maybe Rob can find some sources. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 00:35, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- Comment I've added his short stint with the Packers and also that his son currently plays basketball in the National Basketball League (New Zealand). WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 00:40, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- For consideration:
- I don't believe it's mandatory for a GA, but IPA would be helpful for his name if a source is available (and one is: "too-NOW allah-POT-tay" per the NYT article). Done
- Help:IPA/English looks complicated. I've asked for help at Help talk:IPA and the help desk. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 01:08, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- I'd subsection his professional career into "Canadian football" and "American football," and remove the team subsections, since he had off-season stints with other teams that really don't fit anywhere at the moment. Done
That's about it. Let me know if you have any questions. Once the "crucial" issues have been addressed I'll be happy to promote this article to GA. Lizard (talk) 14:49, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
The main issues are fixed, so I'll go ahead and pass it. Good work. Lizard (talk) 16:28, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
