[edit]

Look, I don't know the entirety of their reason for wanting a redirect, but they do it so the project may be better maintained. What more need I say? It doesn't really matter how stupid it is if it helps maintain the project. I think part of it has to do with the ways bots index the pages or something; just look and read through. I am done with this. I will admit I didn't need to say "trash it", though. In any case, United States Man, I don't think we should make exceptions to the preference to link to a page with "disambiguation" without a specific reason. Sorry if this seemed like a brief revert war; we should have discussed first. Dustin (talk) 14:33, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Where do you get all this about "doing it so the project may be better maintained". I'd like to know where that comes from and why you think this makes any difference. United States Man (talk) 14:49, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it doesn't have to do with indexing. There are other reasons, though, some of which may be found at User:RussBot#About the hatnote task; please just look next time I ask. Dustin (talk) 14:57, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Like the maintainer of the bot said, why not link to a redirect? Linking to redirects is in no way inferior to linking the page directly, so if it helps to save editors time, then why not. I don't want to seem like I am getting too into this or something; I was just unhappy that the IP reverted me without actually going to RussBot's page despite my asking. So like earlier, no hard feelings, I hope. Dustin (talk) 15:04, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Fine with me. Just wanted to know where you were getting that. United States Man (talk) 15:14, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@United States Man: Thank you for looking at the link, and sorry if I am seeming too rough in my comments. I realize that I may not have been clear enough when I asked for you and the IP to look at RussBot's page, and I could have toned down my wording a bit as well.
