1908
[edit]The MSNBC article had a bit that Beryl was the strongest May landfall since 1908, but I removed it since I have a source that proves it to be incorrect. The reanalysis project has this list of all U.S. hurricanes.
1908 May & NC, TS TS 989 55 -----
That is the 1908 listing, and the link furthermore says that all storms with "&" explicitly did not make landfall. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 12:01, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

- webcited the above. I wanna wait for the preliminary reports from the individual NWS offices, since the data in the above would likely be there. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:46, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Uk
[edit]Might be worth keeping an eye on how the British press play Beryl, since its the jubilee weekend they have decided that Beryl poses a threat to the QE2s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday (Even though it wont).Jason Rees (talk) 22:31, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Big MIA rains do not appear to be associated with Beryl
[edit]...at least not directly. They occurred a day before a surface low appeared on surface analyses while the system was still in the northwest Caribbean sea. The rains were so highly localized that the other airports in proximity to MIA did not report more than 1" of rain. I'm going to change the text to say indirect. - Do you think it should be removed then? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:38, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Florida hydroplaning
[edit]An anon added that there was a death in Taylor County - http://www.wctv.tv/home/headlines/Godby_Graduate_Dies_From_Motorcycle_Accident_155167275.html - and while it does appear to have been from Beryl, I couldn't find any news reports or whatnot that conclusively connected it to Beryl. However, it might be worth checking into a bit more. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:50, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Wait until the Tropical Cyclone Report?
[edit]I noticed that with a little bit of work, we may be able to get this article to GA. However, the TCR hasn't been published yet. I was wanting to debate here whether or not it should be a "policy" to wait until after the TCR is out for an article to be placed for GAN. Articles nominated for GAN under the Theatre, film, and drama category are subjected under this rule: "PLEASE DO NOT NOMINATE ARTICLES ON FILMS THAT HAVE NOT YET BEEN RELEASED; AS DETAILS WITHIN THE ARTICLE MAY CHANGE, THEY WILL BE FAILED." In the WPTC, details may change significantly after a TCR is released. Last year, Tropical Storm Bret was upgraded to a GA on October 16, even though it was more than a month and a half before the TCR was released on December 5. Despite its early GAN, I like the quality of Bret's article. However, I think GA nominations for articles like Tropical Storm Julio (2008) were too premature and the TCR was never incorporated into the MH. While I would like to get this article to GA, I am hesitant to do so for that reason. So do we wait for the TCR in cases like this, allow it to be nominate it for GAN at anytime after a storm dissipates/ETs, or leave it to the discretion of the reviewer?--12george1 (talk) 03:50, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- It is okay for an article to be submitted to GAN as long as the information is upgraded once the Tropical Cyclone Report comes out. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 03:55, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed with TAWX in most cases, but with Beryl, there could be very big changes like upgrading to a hurricane. YE Pacific Hurricane 12:58, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- As one of the primary writers of the article, I'd rather wait until the TCR. It shouldn't be long before we get it. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 13:24, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

- "Beryl developed on May 26 from a low-pressure system near the East Coast of the United States." - Can you be more specific about where? Like offshore North/South Carolina.
- "storm's center became more moist and the system began" - Maybe you can say "moister" instead of "more moister".
- "It is possible, however, that Beryl briefly reached hurricane intensity early in the evening" - Switch to "However, it is possible that Beryl briefly reached hurricane intensity early in the evening".
- This is probably beyond your control, but why does the rainfall map have some discrepancies compared to the text in the article? For example, "9.7 in (250 mm) [fell] at Miami International Airport".
- Rainfall totals from before a storm forms aren't always perfect. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 04:33, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Why is there some preparations from Georgia and South Carolina in the Florida section?
- No title for reference #47?
- It does. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 04:33, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, I am going to pass this article. Great job, --12george1 (talk) 04:44, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
