I want to add something such as the factors for success of TikTok, and controversies and criticisms for TikTok. Please permit me to edit this term. These sections which I want to add into this term. 5. The factors for success of TikTok According to the analysis of Linkfluence’s social analysts, there are four factors can help TikTok so dominant in 2018. Firstly, TikTok targets a young but diverse audience. Secondly, the investors with eyes on the international market. Thirdly, short format, easy user interface, and lots of customization options make TikTok more attractive. Fourthly, built-in marketing tactics attract consumer brands. [1] 6. Controversies and criticisms Popular video clips are often copied over and over, resulting in less original, and lower quality video clips on the platform. There are also claims that TikTok contains information inappropriate for underage users. Although most of TikTok ‘s users are between age 18 to 24, many are still minors, leading to questions of social decency, a problem that has crippled other Chinese social networks in the past.” [1] 6.1 Web-addiction As of the end of October 2018, the number of daily active users on TikTok and active users was a stable 200 million and the number of monthly active user even reached 400 million. [2] According to a survey from Bianews, more than twelve percent people spend more than two hours on TikTok. [3] More and more people show that they indulge in TikTok and consume a huge amount of time to browse these meaningless videos. 6.2 Uncivilized phenomenon There are some offensive videos in TikTok, and these videos lead to the uncivilized phenomenon occur repeatedly, such as those showing drunk people, scribbling on walls, challenging police officers and so on. People tend to imitate these offensive and uncivilized behaviors to attract others’ attention. For example, in 2018, two tourists aged 17 and 20 years old, turned themselves into the local police station after their videos on TikTok went viral and triggered widespread social media outrage. TikTok has deleted related video clips, which showed them damaging a historical landform, known as Zhangye National Geopark in China's Gansu province, along with one of them bragging to the camera saying, "I damaged the landform which was formed 6,000 years ago. We sneaked into this area and it feels awesome."[4] 6.3 Mental health Chinese parents have raised concerns about TikTok because TikTok contains information inappropriate for underage users who don’t build their strong values. Some portents even complained that their children are forming distorted values from TikTok. 6.3.1 “Qu Shaoyun” event On 2018 June 6th, there were something that insulted Chinese hero Qu Shaoyun appeared on TikTok. This attention-seeking video didn’t teach the minors to respect the hero who sacrificed himself for his country but expressed a wrong view that we can make fun of heroic deeds. On 2018 July, TikTok was instructed to stop publish illegal advertisements and was fined one million by Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce because this behavior violated the Article 22 of the Protection of Heroes and Martyrs and the Article 9 of the advertising law. [5] In addition, the famous Chinese newspaper People’s Daily editorialized: “Not every apology will be forgiven. Advertising must insist on the correct value orientation so that TikTok can avoid making this mistake.” [6] 6.3.2 “Wen wan” event Wen wan, who soared to popularity in 2018 at age 17 with her video “Gucci Gucci Prada Prada”, was called “the first Internet celebrity”. In just a few days, her follower count reached 12 million. [7] However, this girl was exposed scandals. Firstly, Wen wan experienced a series of facelifts to keep her face looking beautiful. Secondly, as a juvenile, she dropped out of school but chose to go to the nightclub. Although amid all the negative news, Wen wan still was regarded as idol in lots of teenagers’ eyes because these teenagers are so young that cannot distinguish right from wrong. They admire Internet celebrity’s “success”, and someone even think it is a waste of time to go to school. In this aspect, TikTok are distorting values so silent. [8]

I responded to a user about my article.
I do not see any prior critiques of this article, but I see room to create a more globalized perspective. There is a heavy focus on TikTok in relation to China, while a lack of focus on the app's overall culture. Tug99021 (talk) 04:44, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
Moved Douyin most-followed users to List of most-followed TikTok accounts because they are the same service
Douyin is the original name of TikTok; it was rebranded as TikTok for international users and run on different servers to comply with legal restrictions. They have the same interface and logo, as well as the same owner, ByteDance. It is not just a "rip-off" of TikTok-- it IS TikTok, but run on different servers. In fact, Wikipedia redirects you to TikTok when you type in "Douyin".[1] Lutein678 (talk) 07:58, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

The following is a reliable source: https://slate.com/technology/2018/09/tiktok-app-musically-guide.html
And this is a quote from that article:
Lip syncs were the original raison d’être of Musical.ly, but the app came to be known for more than just music. (“2017 will be remembered as the year Musical.ly transitioned from an app primarily for posting music videos to a broader social-media and entertainment platform,” the Wall Street Journal wrote in November.) The choice to go with the TikTok platform means that will only be more true going forward. Dancing is particularly big on the app, which makes sense given its musical roots, and so are other movement-based activities like gymnastics, cheerleading, and parkour. Comedy is huge, though it’s often lip-sync–based comedy, which is something better experienced than explained.
Thank you. 216.51.223.125 (talk) 12:33, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- Partly done: Since it is used to create lip-synch videos in addition to dance videos I left "lip-synch" in but I added "dance" before "lip-synch". I hope this solution works. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 21:20, 18 March 2020 (UTC)

"Chinese"
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Until a decision is made to either create a more comprehensive Douyin page to replace the redirect, I think it is very important to keep clear the distinction between these two apps, even if they are the same app on different servers, as has been asserted on the TikTok page. The first thing that should be done is the removal of the word "Chinese" from the very first sentence in the article:
TikTok (Chinese: 抖音; Dǒuyīn & previously musical.ly) is a Chinese video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming.
I propose that the sentence be changed to the following:
TikTok (Chinese: 抖音; Dǒuyīn & previously musical.ly) is a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming.
This small change helps to emphasize that TikTok is the out-of-China app, while Douyin is the in-China app. I find the wording now, which includes China, unclear about what TikTok is. Thanks for your consideration. 216.228.7.248 (talk) 06:39, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
