[edit]

The following citation and statement are outdated and do not provide a factual statement, rather an opinion of political analyst/writer: "SOFAZ lacks transparency in its finances and in its contracting, which has raised questions about corruption.[2][1] Critics have described projects funded by SOFAZ as useless, and noted that contracts have been awarded to companies owned by the ruling Aliyev family in Azerbaijan.[2]"

I suggest it be changed to the factual statement:

"SOFAZ has received an overall score of 92 and has been ranked 5th among 64 sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) in the 2019 Sovereign Wealth Fund Transparency and Accountability scoreboard published by the Peterson Institute for International Economics"

Not done for now: As suggested, this is not a factual statement; but blanket WP:WHITEWASHING, including the removal of sourced content (WP:VNT). RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 04:04, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @Thenightaway. Why did you revert my tags? I have checked the references and some of them don't include the information provided -- leilahuseynova (talk) 09:51, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The references do say what they are cited for. Thenightaway (talk) 13:47, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Thenightaway SOFAZ has been criticized for lacking transparency in its finances and in its contracting, which has raised questions about corruption — where is it? The reference say transparency applies only to the income side of Azerbaijan's oil fund while the expenditure side remains opaque which is completely different than the interpretation. Also, you haven't provided the page for the reference #17 leilahuseynova (talk) 09:03, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There were actually two citations in that sentence, but you removed one of them.[1] Both of the citations (including the one you removed) support the content in the sentence. The title of Audrey Altstadt's chapter on SOFAZ and SOCAR is literally "Oil Lifts All Boats? Social and Economic Repercussions and the Rise of Corruption". @Thenightaway so the "Aslanli Kenan" is redundant, right? It doesn't include anything from the text leilahuseynova (talk) 06:23, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I have paraphrased the "Criticism" section as the authors have criticised different aspects, which could be misunderstood. --leilahuseynova (talk) 06:45, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please let's discuss the changes here to refrain from POV push leilahuseynova (talk) 07:54, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
