Take your time. I won't try to remove it again as long as you are looking. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 19:48, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contentious topics alert

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Gaismagorm (talk) 11:06, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I likely owe you an apology

[edit]

Hello.

I think that I owe you an apology for causing some problems for you many years ago. I used to be rather indoctrinated by fearmongering propaganda back then. Currently I have hopefully matured and broken free from most of it, and think that your Wikipedia activity seems mostly constructive and reasonable. Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

COP29 edits

[edit]

Hi,

thanks for trying to keep Wikipedia a better place. Yet, you cannot just make random edits and remove substantive information that are sourced and relevant. Please follow the wikipedia guidelines WP:RS and WP:VER. You have to seek consensus with the previous editors. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.

You can absolutely improve the information that is contained on the page. You can move them to a better section, but removing a content that is sourced is against the Wikipedia guidelines WP:RS.

Thanks! NurlanLalaev (talk) 13:05, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
