See Blue ice (glacial) for information on Blue Ice runways. I removed some comments about it because the article just referenced is clearer and more complete. RJFJR 16:44, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure this still needs to be cleaned up - it looks like someone has. I would recommend this be removed from the Cleanup Taskforce area. C i d 09:52, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
There are some erroneous dates in this article, suggesting events have already happened in 2012, 2013 and 2020. Not sure what the dates are actually meant to be, so I will leave these for now.Celticbattlepants (talk) 21:22, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
On 10 October 2024, it was proposed that this article be moved from Sky Blu to Sky Blu (Antarctica). The result of the discussion was moved. |
Requested move 10 October 2024
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. There is a general consensus to move the first proposal. Using head count, and argument if ling term significance, I see a consensus not to move, hence create a disambiguation page that would list both. (closed by non-admin page mover) Safari ScribeEdits! – Primary topic swap. See pageviews[1], which paint a pretty clear picture. 162 etc. (talk) 06:18, 10 October 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Bensci54 (talk) 16:50, 17 October 2024 (UTC)— Relisting. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:45, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support 1st the rapper has 2,643,440 views compared with only Sky Blu for the place. By long-term significance the rapper probably isn't primary so a DAB may be best. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:49, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Note that per WP:DPT, "it's likely there is a primary topic by usage if the top graph shows a single significant usage that maps to almost all of the incoming traffic and overwhelms all other usages." Even if we concede that the rapper is not primary by long-term significance, he is primary nonetheless. 162 etc. (talk) 20:08, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support 1st, Oppose 2nd per Crouch, Swale. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:53, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support both per nom. The place was only discovered in 1993, and the rapper was born in 1986, so while Antarctica and places on it have existed for a much longer time than the rapper, there certainly is not a strong enough long-term significance argument here to outweigh the massive advantage the rapper has in pageviews. To help the reader, let's send them where they want to go rather than a dab page (with a hatnote there for the minority). Mdewman6 (talk) 07:43, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- The rapper started using the name Sky Blu in 2006, that's 18 years ago. The station has existed as you pointed out since 1993, so 31 years, so long term significance of the name clearly goes to the station.
- Long-term significance is based on the topic, not on a name or title, per WP:PT2. Mdewman6 (talk) 19:26, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Going further on this, the rapper changed his name to the stylized "8ky 6lu" in 2013, and then "8ky 6ordy" (sky gordy) since 2016, so it's not quite clear how much "Sky Blu" actually is his primary name anymore and more recently, just "8ky" for Sky - even his instagram handle is just 8ky with the self-identification of "
8ky A.K.A. Sky Blu of LMFAO
" - so maybe we should instead rename the Rapper's article to just 8ky or Sky (rapper) even. Raladic (talk) 02:30, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

- Support 1st and oppose 2nd same rationale as Crouch and Necrothesp. DAB seems best in this case. Chaheel Riens (talk) 08:04, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: Consensus has been found for the first move. Opinions are split on the second. Bensci54 (talk) 16:50, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support both per nom and Mdewman6, provided all incoming wikilinks are cleaned up. Station1 (talk) 18:36, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose both, with second preference to Support 1st, Oppose 2nd per the others above - It appears that very little navigation to the Rapper actually occurs from search (on or off wiki). Refer to Wikinav for the Rapper which indicates that the large majority of navigation happens from internal wikilinks from other pages of the Rappers family, so doing a PT swap doesn't seem to serve anything. Contrast this with the Wikinav for the Antartica station, which receives almost half of its navigations from search (on and off Wiki). Also ironically, it appears some people land on the Rapper's article when they were actually looking for the research station, but none of the top 20 navigations to the Rappers articles even come from the current PT title of the research station. So my preference is actually to maintain the status quo, as it does appear based on the navigational value, that while the rapper would win WP:PT1, it appears the longterm significance of actual search navigation goes to the research station for WP:PT2, which is a tie, so I think at best we might be in WP:NOPRIMARY area and could establish a DAB page at the current root. Note that it also appears the rapper now goes by just "8ky" per their various social media accounts, so it's not quite clear whether their article should even be at Sky Blu anymore, which makes the RM potentially moot.
