Is a rhamphoid cusp really the same as a tacnode? Richard Pinch (talk) 20:17, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Double points of limaçons

[edit]

In the section "Double points", it is said "The left curve (r = 1.5+ cos theta) has an acnode at the origin, which is an isolated point in the plane.". I don't think it is correct.

the origin is r = 0, r = 0 = 1.5+ cos theta, then there is no such theta satisfying this equation. --Wolfch (talk) 15:51, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ramphoid cusp

[edit]

@Bensculfor: If my understanding of my books is correct, in a cusp of this type both branches of the curve lie on the same side of the tangent, thus the example x^5-y^2=0 should be incorrect. thanks. 151.29.30.85 (talk) 19:03, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you've pinged me, since I wasn't the one who added that. I'm afraid I don't know about this, but if you can find a better example then feel free to add it. Bensculfor (talk) 20:31, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
