Notable?

[edit]

Typical example of a subject notable for only one event; sadly, her death in such a case. However, it has to be noted the whole article covers only her passing and nothing else and it was indeed created at the time of her death. To me it's a failure of notability guidelines, so it should be brought into AFD. --Angelo (talk) 03:01, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She was a member of italian female ski jumper team from 2008 Melo86 (talk) 14:48, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, she was part of the youth representative team (juniores), which is not proof of notability alone. Indeed, the Ski jumping Continental Cup she was participating on "usually consist of juniors, or jumpers who are fighting for a spot on their nation's World Cup team" (quoted from the article). And I could not find any important, reliable, third-party source covering her in detail before her death, thus making her non-notable per WP:ONEEVENT. --Angelo (talk) 14:56, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That "usually consist of juniors" sentence you quoted is for the Mens's World Cup. See the same article: "The women's Continental Cup is the highest level ski jumping cup for women since there is no Ski jumping World Cup for women". Furthermore, the German Wikipedia (which is very reliable in winter sports) had an article about her as early as April 2010. --slg (talk) 00:05, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The fact the German Wikipedia has an article is irrelevant, per WP:PRIMARY (Wikipedia is not a primary source by definition). It is also a fact the subject had no previous notable experience into the game, which indeed explains the lack of sources before her death. --Angelo (talk) 01:26, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Angelo that would not meet notability criteria for athletes. But after two and a half years after his death, she is still present in 10 Wikipedia in the world and I see no reason why it should still exist the warning. So if there are dissenting opinions I will remove it. --Kasper2006 (talk) 10:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
