First recipients

[edit]

FYI. The first set of recipients of the award were given out in a particular order. Those I know who recieved it then, and their order has been given. I think it important that we preserve this and try to find out all who got them. --Emb021 15:54, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

highest award?

[edit]

This article indicates that the silver buffalo is the highest adult award confered by the BSA. That argument can be made, but it is incomplete. The silver buffalo is the highest award for national service. The highest award for regional is the silver antelope and the highest for local service is the silver beaver. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woart (talkcontribs)

Since National is above regions and councils, the Silver Buffalo is considered the superior award. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 16:24, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing names added without cited references

[edit]

These names had been entered into the article, but there is no reference listed which cites these individuals: --Ctatkinson 02:53, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There you go. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 03:05, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New reference

[edit]

The BSA just released an updated Silver Buffalo list with the 2007 recipients. [4] --Gadget850 ( Ed) 03:52, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made this the most common ref in the article.Rlevse 10:48, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About 30 minutes of work in UltraEdit using cut & paste and a custom macro: Recipients of the Silver Buffalo Award. It needs more work- wikilink, probably remove the city and update the cites, but it is a start. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 13:13, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did a bunch of cleanup: Recipients of the Silver Buffalo Award --Gadget850 ( Ed) 20:27, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This list is very useful. The Silver Buffalo article will be much "cleaner" once recipients can be removed from the article itself. Great work. --Jdurbach 20:51, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rlevse and and I were discussing formatting:
  • Redlinks: keep as redlinks; remove redlink entries altogether (making it a notable list only) or delink and bold
  • Notability: Currently, these are the cites from the BSA web- they need to be completely revised

It is interesting to note stuff like three SBs were Governor-General of the Philippines and other similarities. I would like to know more about Lee F. Hanmer "Co-organizer of the Boy Scouts of America"- never heard of him before. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 21:28, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another option for breakdown is by year presented SB.Rlevse 21:34, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Like it is now? I think it is time to move it into articlespace, announce it and move this discussion to its talk page. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 23:36, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done Recipients of the Silver Buffalo Award --Gadget850 ( Ed) 01:16, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recipients

[edit]

Looking for consensus to dele the recipients section now that we have Recipients of the Silver Buffalo Award. --Jdurbach 17:51, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The SBA article should simply have a sentence or two about recipients with a "mainarticle" link to the full recipients list. In such a case, the link to the list would be taken out of see also.Rlevse 18:37, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Concur; this was on my do list. Do it before someone slps the laundry list tag on the article. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 18:43, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done, you may want to check for collateral damage-;) Rlevse 19:00, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Once we develop the lead in the recipients article, we can create a recipients section here. I do like the lead in List of Alpha Phi Alpha brothers.
