Terumi
[edit]Who is this person? Is he notable for another reason other than donating his voice to the song Bornlivedie? BacktableSpeak to Meabout what I have done 23:16, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- I wondered this myself. Just today, while source-hunting for this article, I found an interview that allude to it somewhat. See http://www.chemicalharvest.com/inter2_eng.htm - most notably "Tinto Brass, it's very musical. And even before I've seen any of his films, I wanted to use the name Tinto Brass. I just thought it would be nice to get Turimi, my girl-friend, at the beggining of the track to read out a text from a japanese book, she's japanese. She wanted to translate it but I said no, read it in japanese, it would be more interesting."
- So, I'm not sure how reliable this website is (I'm not leaning towards "not very", considering the abundance of typos, color scheme, etc) but I figured it could still be a reference point for further searching on it. (I know it's spelled differently, but if this was a verbal interview, it may just the interviewer's guess on how to spell it.) Sergecross73 msg me 17:51, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Krautrock
[edit]Per PopMatters, a reliable source per WP:ALBUMS/REVSITE:
- "Signify has come to be known as Porcupine Tree’s “Krautrock” release"
- "...the Krautrock stylings of Signify"
This reliable source pretty clearly defines it as "Krautrock". Sergecross73 msg me 03:07, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- This page (Krautrock reads it as more of an scene then a genre (a term used to describe many a different electric bands from Germany in the 70s) and while it is most certainly influenced by it I don't think it should be labeled it. After all the genres are supposed to be kept to the bare minimum and Porcupine Tree have incorporated many styles in to their music over the years that it would be chaotic to list everyone so the main ones (Progressive, Space, Psychedelic) should be enough. (Sorry for the poor wording) Lukejordan02 (talk) 03:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Your personal opinions are trumped by a reliable sources that clearly describe the album as such. The Krautrock article just reads Krautrock is rock and electronic music that originated in Germany in the late 1960s - that sounds like a genre to me. Also, I clicked on 4-5 bands listed at the KR article, and they all had KR listed as a genre, so its clearly used as a genre on the project... Sergecross73 msg me 03:14, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for discussing the matter with me, Do you think that Porcupine Tree’s “Krautrock” release and the Krautrock stylings of Signify are enough to warrant their inclusion because you could find as much info like that on reliable sources for many genres on Porcupine Tree albums due to the wide amount of influences the band have and put into their music. - I Respect your opinion as a much more experienced Wikipedia editor than myself but I am trying to help. This is a section copied from an article on Wikipedia.
- When considering any aspect of infobox design, keep in mind the purpose of an infobox: to summarize key facts that appear in the article. The less information it contains, the more effectively it serves that purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance. Of necessity, some infoboxes contain more than just a few fields; however, wherever possible, present information in short form, and exclude any unnecessary content. Lukejordan02 (talk) 03:30, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- I understand what infoboxes are, and a well known, reliable source directly and repeatedly made assertion about the album as a whole. This doesn't strike me as a controversial stance. Sergecross73 msg me 03:42, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- Like I said above I respect your opinion and I never said you don't no what infoboxes are, I simply wrote that to try and make it clearer for my reasons and why I think "Krautrock" shouldn't be included, I think it would be better in the album styles section. Signify → Signify (album) – Pageviews show that there is no primary topic between this album and Signify (company), so there should be a disambiguation page at the base title. Lennart97 (talk) 10:58, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- I don't oppose this. Honestly, the company may even be the primary topic. As much as I like the album and wrote a bunch of the album article many years back...it's not a major release in any capacity. Sergecross73 msg me 14:08, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
- Support, in absence of a clear primary topic, a disambiguation page should be created and this page should be moved. ~BappleBusiness[talk] 14:24, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
