Notability

[edit]

When I first read this article, most of the material in it was either lacking a citation per WP:V/WP:NOR/WP:CS, or the sources cited were self-published, or contained user-generated content, in violation of WP:Identifying Reliable Sources, WP:Secondary, WP:SELFPUB and WP:USERG. Here's a rundown of the sources that were in the article, some of which I moved to the External links section:

  • Fly Guy Music article on Andra This is a personal blog on Blogspot. It is therefore a user-generated source, and not from a credentialed or reliable music publication, as anyone can start a blog there.
  • Alexandra Govere in The Chronicle of Philanthropy The full content of this article seen at this site reads as follows: "As an American child living in Zimbabwe, Alexandra Govere, now 15, says she tried to do what little..." The rest is restricted to subscribers.
  • Alexandra in Elle Girl This is the one reliable source in the article, as Elle Girl is a reputable publication for young people pertaining to fashion and culture. She is one of 24 people featured in the article, and is given just a small blurb
  • Alexandra Govere in Crisis, the official magazine of the NAACP I don't see any mention of Crisis, but the page in question is on the site for BNET, which is a notable business publication that belongs to CBS Interactive. Whereas I originally thought the Elle Girl source was the only reliable one in the article, having initially overlooked this one, this may indeed also be reliable. I almost removed this from the article because I couldn't find any mention of Govere. A closer look showed that this was page 2 of a 3-page article. I don't know why the person who added this source added the url for Page 2, but Govere is indeed mentioned on Page 1. My only concern now is that Govere speaks about herself, as it is not written in the third-person, as journalists tend to do. I think it may be reliable, but I'm not sure, so I asked at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard.
  • Alexandra in Brass Magazine This site's content is also user-generated, as a disclaimer at the top of the page tells visitors, "Interested in becoming a brass contributor? Click Here".
  • PumpTheBeat.com Also appears to be a personal blog.
  • Andra on Dubstep Source This is a webpage from which one can download her song "White Songs", but that doesn't make it a reliable source. No mention of it on Wikipedia or Google outside of its own website or social networking pages. It looks like little more than a music blog.
  • White Swans on LupE.N.D. Same as above. This site, which is actually called The LupEND Blog, has "blog" in its name, and I could not find any coverage of it outside of Wikipedia. The Lasers (album) article mentions here that it's a "fan site", though I could not find mention of in either of the two citations at the end of that passage.
  • White Swans on Hulkshare Also a music streaming/downloading site.
  • White Swans on Ammon-Ra Dot Net This also looks like a personal blog.
  • White Swans on Youtube YouTube is a site whose content is user-generated, as anyone can start a channel and upload videos are songs. If this were the official YouTube channel of someone whose notability had already been established, or featured a video of someone considered a reputable authority in the music industry, that would be different. But this the subject's song, on a channel that belongs to someone with the username dantemarquis, so it's not reliable. Nightscream (talk) 08:13, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shungudzo

[edit]

Are Alexandra Govere and Shungudzo the same person? From what I can see, they're two separate people (Shungudzo's name is Shungudzo Kuyimba), and as such the Shungudzo info should be moved to another article. If I'm wrong, please do correct me.
