Use of the article/interview 最接近天國的異界之音──靜香; 'The sound of the outer world closest to heaven – Shizuka'

In 2001, Evelyn Huang ("ethereal") went to Tokyo, where she interviewed Shizuka Miura, Maki Miura and Jun Kosugi. She published this interview as an article (最接近天國的異界之音──靜香; 'The sound of the outer world closest to heaven – Shizuka') in the final issue of Rocker Magazine (Taiwan). As this interview covers a lot of Shizuka's history, I cited it 13 times throughout Shizuka (band). On 15 January 2020, Evelyn posted a tweet questioning about the use of the Template:Unreliable source? in most citations to her article. She questioned if the use was because the article is in Chinese and/or if it was because of evidences of its existence.

I did the markings. This not because it is in Chinese. Although I tried, I never found any information about Rocker Magazine (Taiwan) on the Web; but this is not the issue either, I find the text legitimate. This is because of Wikipedia's aspects of verifiability (WP:V), which includes what Wikipedia considers as a "reliable" source (WP:SOURCE, WP:RSVETTING) or "unreliable" source (WP:NOTRELIABLE). Consequently, this includes Wikipedia rules on "no original research" (WP:NOR), and the rules to use or not use primary, secondary or tertiary sources (WP:PSTS). Also, Wikipedia articles must be based on independent sources (WP:IS).

Now, finally, on what regards if interviews are independent and primary/secondary/tertiary sources (WP:IV):

“ The general rule is that any statements made by interviewees about themselves, their activities, or anything they are connected to is considered to have come from a primary-source and is non-independent material. With the exception of comments by experts in the relevant field, Wikipedia cannot use comments made by an interviewee to cite claims that would normally require either secondary or third-party independent sources (though primary sources are sometimes considered acceptable within an article for supporting uncontroversial claims by the interviewee about him- or herself).

Sometimes, publications may include a short bio or other commentary about an interviewee. That content may or may not be secondary or even written by them. It's not uncommon for publications to request a short bio from an interviewee or pull one from his or her website or from here on Wikipedia and publish it uncritically, editing only for space. To be secondary, the source has to contain their own thoughts, which that sort of uncritical parroting of what someone else said clearly lacks.

Evelyn's article/interview covers a big gap in the history of the band and also about Shizuka Miura. So, in 2018, I reviewed and made annotations about the article, so that I could cite it. The thing is, almost all (if not all) of what I used in Shizuka (band) is based on the statements made by Shizuka and Maki. This use, according to Wikipedia rules and guidelines, when citing "[...] claims that would normally require either secondary or third-party independent sources [...]" could be considered as "[...] primary-source and is non-independent material". Thus, this is why I ended up putting the Template:Unreliable source? whenever I cited the interview alone for any sentence, instead of removing the sentences. I think I only removed something that cited Shizuka having stomach cancer and a child because Wikipedia rules on the former are strict. There's some time that I want to try and cite the bio that Evelyn's made for the band instead of Shizuka's and Maki's statements where it's possible. TODO expand year gaps

There are two main gaps that need to be covered on Shizuka's history (both are uncovered because of lack of reliable sources, or any source at all):

• 1997–2000: The period BETWEEN (Seven and Jun left Shizuka OR USA tour) AND (Shizuka reunition).
• 2002–2008:The period BETWEEN (Le Weekend festival) AND (Traditional Aesthetics release)

TODO Legacy and Influence section

There's a possibility of having a "Legacy and Influence" section.

Legacy

• PSF records wrote about how they were a "lost in action" artist
• At least Alan Cummings and PSF Records wrote about how their style were distinctive.

Influence

Off the top of my head (and I think it's already commented on the source code), it could be covered the influence Shizuka had/has on the following artists:

• Telstar Ponies: they have this song "Shizuka" by Rachel Devine which was influenced by and a reference to Shizuka. Also there's "A Feather on the Breath" by them which seems to be a cover of Planning for Loneliness.
• Suishou no Fune: Shizuka contemporaries who most sound like Shizuka. There's an interview with them that one of the members cite Shizuka as an artist they liked and were familiar with...
• Black Lily (Evelyn Huang): released 2 Shizuka covers as a tribute to Shizuka Miura.
• Heavenly Persona: musician which has Bandcamp page. Not really music-alike Shizuka, but has a remix of Pandora's Box and the name is also a reference to Shizuka
• Igor Pjörrt: a photographer / visual artist who released a photo book named "Heavenly Persona" and wrote to have been inspired by Shizuka's Heavenly Persona.

TODO Influences for Shizuka's music style

Throughout the article, it's only cited Les Rallizes Denudes and Fushitsusha influences. But, besides that Shizuka probably got influence from:

• Hildegard of Bingen: likely to have influenced Shizuka's chanted vocals. I suspect this mostly from a Japanese person who claimed to have been introduced to her work by Shizuka Miura. Also, I find it of special coincidence that the song "A Feather on the Breath" by Telstar Ponies apparently is a cover of Shizuka's "Planning for Loneliness" and that its name is a reference to Hidelgard's "A Feather on the Breath of God".
• Funkadelic/Eddie Hazel: Maki Miura is a fan of Funkadelic (Maki claimed it on an interview with him and and Rei). I suspect Eddie Hazel guitar work on the song Maggot Brain (Maki seems to go by this username on some websites) is of special influence for Maki's emotive psych-noise guitar solos.

DONE Migration to Template:Cite Q

• Most citations were migrated to Template:Cite Q to eliminate redundancy in Shizuka related pages.
• The issue is that the rendering is worse for the user, mainly that it isn't displaying archived urls.
  • It's needed to search for solutions to display archived urls as to make the tradeoff worth it.

The Wire (magazine) has a considerable amount of text citing Shizuka. For increasing the reliability of Shizuka (band), it is needed to create Wikidata entities for them and cite then throughout the article.
