Propose Name Change?
I think we should change the name of the page from Johnny Basco > Santino Marella. Any thoughts? ----Belevsquad 04:05, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Why is it at Johnny Basco at all? He isn't particularly famous under that name, it should be under his real name. Tino 06:00, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- A user screwed up the article by moving it multiple times and then copying the article back here. Now the entired edit history of the article up until 3 hours ago is located at Johhny Brisco. I have asked an admin if they could merge the edit histories so it can be fixed. TJ Spyke 06:49, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
I would prefer it if we kept the article titled by his real name. Govvy 10:11, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Anthony Carelli
This guy is a champion and should be respected as such, all Hail Anthony Carelli intercontinetal champion of the world! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 222.153.207.96 (talk • contribs).
- How can he be referred to as Italian in the article when he's from New York? EDIT: Thanks to whoever cleaned that up. MichaelBlankley 01:40, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Considering his last name I'm going to go out on a limb and say that maybe he has Italian heritage? --The Lone Bard 01:42, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- :: I was just commenting on a change that was obviously made by someone who was a little too excited. It was changed. --MichaelBlankley 01:45, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure that saying he is the first "fan" to win a WWE Championship is necessarily factual. I removed it, as it is not necessarily a fact or accomplishment. --Okuzaone
he isnt heel he is just "in love"
- What you say is true, but he is the first man to win the Intercontinental Championship in his WWE debut match. This is not to be confused with Carlito, who won the Intercontinental Championship in his debut ON RAW, not in WWE. WikiWikiBoi 21:50, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
He was born on March 14th, 1974. Born in Mississauga, Canada (just outside toronto)

Gorilla Monsoon refernce
I added this to the page but it was reverted
"The given surname "Marella" is a reference to WWE legend Gorilla Monsoon whos real name was Robert Otto Marella."
However Gorilla Monsoons page also mentions that Santinos surname is a tribute to him. Surely there should be the same rule for both page - both with the fact, or both without.
- Indeed they should, removed from there.«»bd(talk stalk) 19:37, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Championship Confusion
In the article it states that he had won the OVW TV Championship, but at the bottom it has him as the OVW Heavyweight Champ. Could somone fix it.
- I changed it. Before, it used to say the TV Title. Possibly an act of vandalism. - Deep Shadow 14:27, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
This is not Oleg Prudius
Is this same guy who talk like Russian at ECW, Smackdown, Raw, and say "DOUBLEDOUBLE E"? He sit at ringside watch show and say he beat everybody in doubledouble E and he love America? 64.241.230.3 15:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Nope, it's a different guy! Govvy 16:54, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for answer question. 64.241.230.3 18:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Lost to Y2J
can somebody please put a memo about Santino losing to Y2J. this match is Y2J first match in the WWE in two years. can you add this info please.
- Why? Mshake3 (talk) 03:37, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- If his other feuds are in there (in detail, I might add), why can't his mini-feud with Y2J be in there? I say put that in, or take his other feuds out. Anonymous~Source 01:47, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a feud yet, it was a one-off match. Even if it continues tonight, feuds aren't generally added until they are done. Gavyn Sykes 01:50, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Mispelling
Hi guys, there is a little mispelling in the article... it's "La vittoria è mia", not "La vittoria e mia". The first translates in "Victory is mine", the second is "Victory and mine". :D —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.133.89.1 (talk) 02:09, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Heel Turn
guys i think he turned heel on the july 30th edition of Raw where he was talking in a mad state LOL J.C. 04:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Being booed by the fans isn't really a heel turn. John Cena gets booed sometimes, and he's still a face. Talon Kelson 06:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Marella has been showing signs of a heel turn recently. He has been venting his rage on the fans, and he's kind of been
abusingpossessive of Maria (shown on the "WWE Dating Game"). I do indeed think Marella is a heel now, and that should be mentioned in the article. MITB LS 06:19, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually I think Vengeance 2007 was a major turning point for his character. As the article mentions, he beat Umaga by disqualification with Umaga pretty much completely squashing him. The interesting thing, though, was the reaction by the crowd and Umaga to the beat-down.
Specifically, after Umaga was disqualified, he delivered his signature Samoan Spike to Marella's throat. The crowd was decidely behind Umaga during this, despite the heel-like attack, and Umaga, looking confused by the crowd reaction, then returned to the ring to deliver yet another post-match spike. By this point chants of Umaga's name could be heard as he left the ring, sticking out his tongue and roaring and such.
It was immediately following that pay-per-view that Santino started to display heel-like character qualities like whining about losing a match and cheating to help Maria win matches, etc. While there's no way to confirm what the WWE bookers said backstage, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the crowd's reaction to Umaga beating up Santino was seen as a great opportunity to both turn Santino into a heel and Umaga into a face/tweener. (Umaga's face turn was somewhat cemented on last night's RAW, in fact.)
Such a face turn following unexpected crowd reactions at a pay-per-view isn't unprecedented. Another example was Mickie James, who was portrayed as a "crazy" heel up until Wrestlemania 22. At that Wrestlemania the crowd was solidly behind "heel" Mickie the entire match. And sure enough, shortly following that pay-per-view, Mickie's character began to evolve into a face.
Anyway, heel/face turns are usually planned pretty well in advance. But sometimes unexpected crowd reactions seem to catalyze the process and can entice the bookers to quickly turn a wrestler from face to heel or vice versa. And I'm pretty sure that it was precisely that unexpected fan reaction that led to the rapid switch in both Santino's and Umaga's characters. Dugwiki 20:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean Mickie slowly evolved into a face after the PPV? After Wrestlemania, she was portrayed as the Psycho Bitch of Psychos! remember? SHE DRESSED UP LIKE TRISH! -ChristoCracker 15:38, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Was Just thinking that, a better example is Orton, prior to beating Benoit at Summerslam for the title the fans started to react to him as a face, so they ran with it. or my favourite one Is the first Raw to be taped in england, Manchester to be exact, where on heat Stevie Richards was wrestling, me and my mates are big ECW fans, and started a stevie chant, We were as high up as we could be, and it spread all across the arena, This was just after Snitsky had cost Lita and Kane to lose their unborn child, Anyway on the Raw itself(It isn't on camera) Stevie teamed with Val Venis, and Kane came down with a Chair and attacked everyone, EXCEPT Stevie who slipped out of the Ring and jumped the barriers to escape, the only explanation, The management KNEW had Kane hit Stevie the Heat he would get would be off the scale, So they let him escape - this was the 9th of October 2005 Raw incase anyone wants to check it up, on another funny as hell/Big mess note Val got sent out of the arena, in a Thames Ambulance, Thames being London which is 250 miles from Manchester and there is probally 30 ambulance services between the two areas —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.105.156.116 (talk) 00:01, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

DUI Arrest
Wait, why would something like a criminal charge be put under his wrestling career section? I know he may not have a life, but this sort of incident is supposed to be placed in the "Personal Life" section, like Jeff Hardy's fire. Perhaps a drug violation could be an exception, but it doesn't seem to be like that.--Lord Dagon (talk) 18:48, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Finisher
whats this guy's finisher?
- It's already listed on the page, as Santino Marella he uses a roll-up of some sort.
- He has yet to win a match with something that's not a Roll-Up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zack Shadow (talk • contribs) 04:27, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- How is his finisher a rolling cutter? when did he use it?
- And how is his other finisher a triangle chokehold? when did he use it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.111.198.94 (talk) 11:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. I've never seen him use a triangle choke or a diving headbutt. Shouldn't it be removed?Skilldog2 (talk) 00:10, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- He used it when he did his shoot fighter gimmick. There's life outside of Raw.«»bd(talk stalk) 02:33, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Age
In a recent interview with Slam in Canada, he said that he's 34 years old and done Judo for 25 years. I think something needs to be done about his age on the article. The full interview is up on their website but I don't have the link too it. I read the exert with his age at ProWrestling.com Crash Underride 21:00, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- Here's his quote from the part I read.
“There’s some talk I might get a stable going,” Santino reflected. “I’d do a little bit of managing, and fighting. I debuted a little older, I’m 34, already been here a year, so I can’t wrestle forever. I did judo for 25 years, so my body is not as fresh as it was before. But I’d like to do some managing down the road, still want to wrestle, I want to do everything to be honest, be involved in everything every step of the way, even management and creative. I want the ball basically.”
The article exert is here. The full article is here.
Carelli's charge report from his DUI has his full date of birth which is definitely the most reliable source at the moment.
I think the details in that interview are more frivolous and trivial.

Another move he's been using
What about that front elbow drop preceeded by that taunt where he acts like he's using his elbow as a...I don't know what they're called...one of those things where you twist the top and garlic or cheese comes out. This move should be added, as I myself have seen him do it three times now. 69.23.151.9 (talk) 21:02, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Is this really important???
On the July 14 2008 episode of Raw, Marella was defeated by WWE Diva Beth Phoenix in an intergender match, after Marella issued an open challenge to the entire Raw roster.[28] The angle continued the following week after Marella lost to the returning D'Lo Brown. Marella and Phoenix shared a kiss to which both expressed considerable confusion to afterwards
This is nothing more than reporting week to week events, and not at all significant, unless the angle with Beth turns him and Beth into a “Power Couple”. Until then, I'm deleting it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Myname100 (talk • contribs) 00:30, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
