Merge proposal

I split off the discography section from Santana (band) into this article, because it seems large enough to sustain a separate discography. The careers of Santana and his band are so interconnected that I now see much overlap with the discography section in Carlos Santana and it seems silly to maintain two copies of the same information, so I'm proposing merging the two into one article, and I will also then try and turn it into a featured list. I'm not fully attached to "Santana discography", so if anyone thinks "Carlos Santana discography" would be better, please comment. Cheers. Rodhullandemu 19:00, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Support There is duplicate information and considerable overlap per WP:MERGE. The discographies in published Carlos Santana biographies, including Carlos Santana: Back on Top and Carlos Santana: A Biography, tend to list these together as well, with a Santana (band) section followed by a section on Carlos Santana's solo work. dissolvetalk 02:12, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
I noticed the absence of a Santana Discography article a while back and was planning to start one myself, but you beat me to it. Good work so far. I will help expand the article when I can. I'm not sure if "Featured List" is attainable in the near future but it should be easy to get the article beyond stub status. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:51, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Fillmore Performance: San Francisco 1968

There seems to have been a 2002 release of a live performance that is different from the 1997 release. Here are a couple links to it on the internet: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:39foxqealdje

Removing FAC

This does not belong at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates. It is a list and should go to Wikipedia:Featured list candidates when it is ready. --Andy Walsh (talk) 16:18, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

References

References need a lot of work. Many references have titles that are descriptions, not the actual title. The first of each pair of examples is the original, the second is more correct:

  • "Carlos Santana sold over 100 records worldwide".
  • "Biography". Santana- The Official Carlos Santana Web Site.

Title formats

Albums titles should be in italics, songs are in quotes. "Papa John Creach" should be Papa John Creach. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 14:14, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Redirects from non-notable albums

A number of non-notable Santana albums have articles that only contain an infobox and track listing and no references. These were not released by Santana's official record companies (Columbia, Arista, Sony, etc.) and appear to be bootleg or gray market albums released by small record labels without WP articles. Propose to redirect these albums to the discography per WP:NALBUMS and WP:PERMASTUB:

"Did not chart" entries

I find it hard to believe that 3rd album and Caravanserai did not chart in France, considering how high the first two albums got there. A P Monblat (talk) 06:51, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
