[edit]Rusty Allen's corrrect birth name is Elbert Allen Jr. Born actually in 1951, not 1953
This article was at Rusty Allen, when someone created Rustee Allen as a copy of that page. This messes up editing histories and is not a good idea. I saw a note about this on WP:AN/I and fixed the cut&paste move, and the page histories are not properly rejoined. However, a later note suggests that "Rusty" may be the proper name after all. Please discuss the matter here, citing sources as needed, adn come to a consensus. Then if you need help moving it (if that a move back to "Rusty Allen" is the consensus) you may want an admin's assistance to get the redirect out of the way. You can ask for this at requested moves, or leave a msg on my talk page and I'll be glad to help. DES (talk) 19:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there! I'm the user who redirected the page, although I admit I didn't know the proper way to redirect. Rustee's own official home page spells it "Rustee," so I assumed that's the correct spelling. [1] I'll gladly take back my edits if I'm wrong. Also, I didn't just do a hack "copy and paste" job. I spent a bit of time adding information to the original page, including the info box as well as a photo of Rustee (the page was pretty bare). THEN I copied it to the new page and redirected. I am new here, though, so if you have tips, please let me know! I just thought the article wasn't doing Rustee justice. Didn't mean to break any codes. Thanks! -- Sydscotch 21:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- I commented on this on the AN/I. It seems like if Rustee himself wants to spell his name Rustee, we should leave it as that. I'd only seen it spelled "Rusty" myself. He was known as Rusty during his days with S&TFS. Possibly, there's a solution that names both.

- A "Copy and paste move" simply means any time that a copy of an article, edited or not, is created by copying the text or wikitext, rather than through use of the move feature. it happens a lot, usually throughn people not knowing what the move feature is for or how to use it. It can be a problem because edit history is screwed up, but normally it is done with good intentions, and every admin and exprienced editor understands that, or should. I didn't mean to imply that your editing was ill-intentioned or unskilled, simply that you didn't know that the use of the move tab is strongly prefered for this purpose, for purely technical reasons. (Use of move also moves the talk page along with the article.) What I did was to join the two versions, so that all the changes are in the history, and the version with the most recent set of edits is now visible. Currently Rusty Allen redirects to Rustee Allen, so any user who types either name in gets to the same place. It eould be possible to include in the article itself a mention that he used to be known as "Rusty" if this is properly sourced. Entertainers often change names, particualrly stage names. Consider Prince as an extreme case. If all are agreed that "Rustee" is now the proper spelling, there is nothering more to do except keep improving the article as time and sources permit. I hope this helps make things clearer. DES (talk) 22:55, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Just wondering why the photo of Rustee was deleted? Someone's been doing this to several other musicians' articles I worked on. If I'm missing something, please let me know. Is there any way to get a snapshot of the man up here? Sydscotch 11:26, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
