The news about his behavior at the Jan 19, 2008 Bakersfield concert has been floating around, but how can this included in the article? These are the only sources I could find http://www.bakotopia.com/home/Blog/ACEYOU/20092 http://thesoulandthesystem.blogspot.com/2008/01/open-letter-to-jazz-legend.html http://www.drumsmylife.com/-vp103126.html http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/talkofthetown/20002 76.195.77.174 (talk) 18:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Like many people, I happen to think that Roy Haynes is a fantastic drummer, especially at the age of 81. However, this does not necessarily make it true. Therefore, such expressions as "He has a rare ability to combine a highly expressive, personal style..." and "He can do this whether gracefully backing..." is not even speculation, but bias.

This, combined with the use of the phrase "...listening and supporting and lifting the whole band rhythmically..." leads me to believe that this article does not comply with Wikipedia's standards of neutrality.

Who cares? he's a really amazing drummer. i think that's all that matters.

It's either true or it's not.

You've gotta see/hear him for yourself to become a true believer. I may be a groupie, but the moment I laid eyes/ears on Roy, I knew I was in the presence of a genius, and I only hoped some of his greatness would rub off on me. He's totally down to earth and positively human, and he's perfectly willing to share his wisdom and knowledge of life and drumming if you ask.

I decided to try to clear up the Roy Haynes article. I think I did a pretty good job at making it NPOV as well as describing his unique talents (which makes him encyclopedic in the first place). --SeanO 02:03, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"It's either true or it's not." -- on over-simplistic point of view that is out of place in an encyclopdia.

"who enters college this fall." -- a phrase that's guaranteed to be out-of-date within a year. Whoever know about Roy's son, please update this to specify a year, or rephrase it as a generic mention of the son.

The arithmetic around his pro debut is wrong. Either his birth date or debut year is wrong, or his age is. He could not have been 17 in 1944 if he was born in 1925; he could have been 18 or 19. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.30.6.158 (talk) 10:48, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Woeful

[edit]

This article is woefully inadequate. Nothing happened between 1958 and 2006? If you listen to other jazz musicians talk about Haynes it is with a tone of reverence and awe at his abilities, his energies, and his artistry. 72.76.184.128 (talk) 16:03, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

So as not to delay posting this article to WP:ITN/RD, I propose that the Discography section be moved to a separate new article. A possible source has been found by Grimes2, which looks reliable to me. What do other editors think? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:34, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why not check entries against the source, and leave those that are verified? Stephen 21:48, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, possible. Or copying over the existing sources from those that have articles. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
