Bosnian National movment?

[edit]

To me inclusion of this paragraph in text seams highly speculative. Rebellion of Husein Gradščević, although with a clear idea of local autonomy, had above all a social dimension. Its primary aim was restaurateur of feudal privileges of landowning strata of Bosnian society. Although this class represented the majority of Bosnian Muslim population, this movement had little in common with nationalistic movements elsewhere in Europe, and was more in pair with struggles of local aristocracy with central authoritarian power elsewhere in feudal world. It was portrait as a proper national movement only by some authors in period after WWII according to semi official policy of former SFRJ that respective histories of constituent nations should follow the same pattern.

Arab Nationalism

[edit]

The rise of Arab nationalism should probably be also mentioned in or at least linked to this article

Turkish nationalism

[edit]

Turkish nationalism shouldn't be included in this article.

Ottoman Empire = Turkish Empire —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brsh (talkcontribs) 07:08, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Turkish nationalism definitely should be included. The Ottoman Empire is a larger entity that included more ethnic/cultural groups than just the Turks, and the Turks had a specific nationalist movement within the larger Ottoman Empire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.19.117.220 (talk) 03:05, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Macedonian?

[edit]

The 'macedonian' section is clearly POV. What evidence is there that the 'national awakening' was not bulgarian instead? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.49.200.70 (talk) 17:21, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Albanian

[edit]

The rise of Albanian nationalism should probably be also mentioned in or at least linked to this article. Tiimiii (talk) 01:33, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tiimiii You're right. I will add some stuff to this article. Cheers, Ktrimi991 (talk) 22:35, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ktrimi991 Oh thank you.Everything is known that Albanians started the first uprisings, and here they are not involved? it's a pity. Tiimiii (talk) 03:46, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Albanians were actually the last of the Balkan nations.--Zoupan 03:56, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Anscombe writes that the Albanian Pashaliks were the inspiration of the Serbian and Greek revolutions and the first step to the formation of the modern Balkans. Ktrimi991 (talk) 17:36, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Zoupan, it does not matter who was the first or last, this article deals with the topic of nationalism in the Balkans and its result in tearing the Ottoman state apart. Tiimiii, Ktrimi991 i'll add a paragraph toward the latter part of the month to this article, as i need to condense that info on the Ottoman era from the Albanian nationalism article for here. Best.Resnjari (talk) 03:43, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I only answered the comment made by Tiimiii.--Zoupan 05:39, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have found good newer sources by Rrapaj and Pahumi and others on this. They summarize it pretty well: some scholars argue the first outbreak of Albanian nationalism were the 1830s-ish revolts against centralization, some attribute the start to the 1840s/50s first writings by Veqilharxhi/Mitko/etc, and some attribute it to 1878 . Pahumi does somewhat of a compromise between these: she argues the foundations of Albanian nationalism dated to the first half of the 1800s, and "consolidated" in the 1878 crisis. In any case that puts Albanian nationalism after the Greeks and Serbs no doubt, probably a bit after the Bulgarians, but certainly before the Bosniaks and Macedonians-- by no means either the first, or the last.--Calthinus (talk) 06:03, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Calthinus, that sounds very'interesting. Not to be a pain on this, could you when time permits place links or list the references on that on my talkpage as i would like to explore and add to the main Albanian nationalism article, before i go down the road of condensing some of the content from there to here. Best.Resnjari (talk) 08:23, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Resnjari I will shoot two birds with one stone and summarize what they had relevant to this page and cite them here. Soon. --Calthinus (talk) 02:33, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
ok, cool, thanks Calthinus. Much appreciated. Then i'll take it from there. Best.Resnjari (talk) 03:04, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Resnjari when will you add information about Albanian nationalism? Tiimiii (talk) 13:37, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tiimiii, working on condensing it. It was somewhat harder then i anticipated. Fingers crossed on my part to have it up soon. Best.Resnjari (talk) 14:34, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Tiimiii and Resnjari: I have an outline and the sources gathered. I will get to it when I get a moment.--Calthinus (talk) 20:32, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
