Barry's death
[edit]Janine had wanted Barry's wealth so she married him, and then, following an argument the next day, killed him by pushing him off a cliff on New Year's Day 2004. Not that it's terribly important in this article, but whether Barry was pushed or fell is still a matter of debate IMO.
GdB 20:38, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- This episode guide suggests that it was a mixture of both "Barry moves towards Janine but she shoves him away. He tumbles over the cliff and crashes down the hill."[1]. I think we were meant to believe that his death was an accident, but she still killed him because he fell as a result of her push, then she left him to die while she picked a flower and undid his shoelace :) Gungadin 22:03, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Image
[edit]Is it possible for someone to get a new picture to represent this article? The character is crying in the image, but he is not really the depressed type, so it is kinda misleading, and does not best represent the character of Ricky Butcher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.106.41.3 (talk) 17:37, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that infobox images should be those that represent a typical image of the character. User:Gungadin usually uploads new images but she's on a wikibreak at the moment. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:04, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- I dont agree. He's not crying he just looks sad. To say Ricky isnt the depressed type is a little untrue, he can and has been shown to portray sadness. It would be equally inaccurate to put a picture of him smiling up as that indicates the character is always happy! Ricky laughs, cries, frowns, smiles, so it's fine to put an image of him doing one of those expressions. If we put an image of Ricky dressed in a blonde wig, then I would say you have a point.GunGagdinMoan 14:14, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- I think all the infobox images should be as neutral as possible when it comes to them showing any emotion. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:17, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Easier said than done. They're acting and each scene has a purpose, so finding a neutral expression isn't easy, and what's a neutral expression anyway? So long as it's clear and shows what the character looks like, then I dont see the problem. That is a clear image of Ricky facing the camera, seems quite neutral to me.GunGagdinMoan 14:25, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- The Ricky picture looks ok to me too. Well I said as neutral as possible, I know some pictures have portrayed anger, which I don't think they should do. A smile or a frown is fine though. But they should be a typical representation of the character so someone in a wedding outfit, for example, shouldn't be used. I don't think that's an issue right now but I think one like that was used for Peggy for a while. I know it's hard to do as they're acting all the time. Yeah I agree with that. I try to take them as full face on pics with them looking at the screen, with good lighting. It can be quite tricky to get the money shot :) GunGagdinMoan 14:42, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- They should deliberately look at the camera for five seconds at least twice a year ;) AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:59, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Duration
[edit]WT:EE#Durations will explain it all! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.33.132.13 (talk) 18:58, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah that's what we decided. If he's returning in 2012 then there's no need to change the duration in this article. –anemoneprojectors– 19:25, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- There was a long discussion which achieved consensus here. If Ricky appears in both 2011 and 2012, 2008-2012 wouldn't be an inaccurate overview. Frickative 19:47, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Although I am wondering if we should put "2008–11" for now (for Bianca too) as 2012 is a long way away and you never know what might happen, they might not make it back until 2013. Or the actors might die. So maybe we should wait until we find out they've returned, like with Tanya, Digital Spy reported that Jo Joyner had filmed her return. Then if they return in 2012 we just change it back to "2008—" –anemoneprojectors– 20:25, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Tbh, I thought we did that anyway per WP:CRYSTAL. Shows how much attention I pay(!) but yes, agreed. Frickative 20:28, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- I guess we should do the same for Jane Beale then. –anemoneprojectors– 20:29, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Exit 2012
[edit]In the Inside Soap Bryan Kirkwood said that "We can expect a big, colourful return to form for Bianca. We've missed Patsy's [Palmer] warmth on the show, and I'm really delighted that she's back where she belongs. Sadly, Sid [Owen] is only backfor a short while, as he has a lot of other commitments, so it looks like it might be the end of Ricky and Bianca when the past comes back to huant them. But we have a surprise for Bianca - Morgan's dad will be turning up. He'll be played by Footballers Wives Chucky Venn, who was grate in that show." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.223.185.178 (talk) 10:05, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Kira Salter
[edit]Ricky and his relatives should have Kira put into their profiles as a relative even if she never interacted with them. Arjoccolenty (talk) 23:58, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- I can understand Ricky and Mandy, perhaps even Frank and Lorraine. But why should the others? And please stop assuming her surname is Salter. It wasn't mentioned and is unsourced. - JuneGloom Talk 00:05, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- What JG said... and this is Mandy we are talking about - she could have tried to pass the baby off as someone elses and given it their name - she could have called it Salter - wait until it is confirmed - and we may never know - but never add original research.Rain the 1 00:10, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Because all of Ricky's other children are added to his relative profiles. Clare and Diane never had scenes with Tiffany. Joe Wicks never had scenes with Morgan. None of either families ever had scenes with Natasha, yet their names are included in to family profiles so Keira or Kira or however you spell her name should also. Arjoccolenty (talk) 01:23, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Only should be added to Ricky and Mandy's pages, as she's their child. Nobody else ever met her, she never appeared on screen, so she's not important or relevant to any other character. –anemoneprojectors– 16:28, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, to be technical - Ricky never met her did he? She is a sibling of Liam and Tiffany and a relation to other important characters, surely she must be included? Alex250P (talk) 20:13, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- That's what I was getting at. Frank never met Tiffany or Natasha. Neither did Clare and Diane. Joe Wicks never met any of Bianca's younger kids, but they were still added to their pages. Arjoccolenty (talk) 21:00, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- They shouldn't be, but people add them all the time and the edits get missed, so they stay there. –anemoneprojectors– 14:22, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, we always include brothers and sisters, even if not met, so Keira should be added to Tiffany, Liam and Morgan's pages, but no others! –anemoneprojectors– 14:23, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- She shouldn't be added to Morgan's page. Morgan and Kira are not blood related or related by adoption. Morgan is Bianca and Ray's son. Tony's name is on hs birth certificate. Kira is Ricky and Mandy's daughter. Unless Ricky adopted Morgan, they would only be step-siblings, and the last time I checked, the template you made doesn't have step-siblings. Arjoccolenty (talk) 17:50, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- I just went and named all three of Bianca's kids without thinking. I didn't think that Morgan was Ricky's. He's alread a step-sibling, regardless of adoption. We don't add step-siblings but we do add adopted ones. Morgan is named Butcher now so maybe it happened. We don't know though. –anemoneprojectors– 14:30, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

By the way, can I ask where the spelling "Kira" came from? I'd spell it Keira, as in Knightly. Kira is a character from Death Note. –anemoneprojectors– 14:30, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Never mind, googled it. It's on the BBC site. –anemoneprojectors– 14:31, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Coming back
[edit]Is Ricky coming back at some point after Sid Owen's break is over? Arjoccolenty (talk) 13:38, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think this is a break, I think it's an indefinite departure (I would say permanent but as he didn't die...) –anemoneprojectors– 13:42, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
Owen denied that he has retired from acting and never wants to be on TV again via his Twitter page. And mixing character/actor up in articles can become confusing when there is no clarity. The current opening paragraph sounds like Ricky has retired from acting when of course Ricky is a fictional character and it's Sid who has apparently retired from acting. I do wish people would read back their edits before hitting submit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.106.99 (talk) 01:35, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
