Requirements for Notable Game
[edit]I noticed that the section entitled "example game', which showed Rapport's victory over a GM in tournament play, was deleted. What are the criteria for a chess game to be shown in a Wikipedia article? GrandMattster 19:24, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- Like anything else, in that it is verifiable with a reliable source. By the way, the labelling of things as notable sometimes get the attention of some editors who look for 'notable' as a WP:PEACOCK word.SunCreator (talk) 10:40, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Sample games
[edit]User:GrandmasterCheckmate: I see that you have removed the column breaks from the game, making it one column instead of three. This may make it easier to follow on your smartphone, but it has other disadvantages. Take a look at the "Notable Games" sections of other chess biographies. In some of them, the game score is not one move per line; in others, there isn't even a game score, but just a link to the game score in chessgames.com. The advantage of the latter method is that you can follow the link, and just click through the game (which I just did with Rapport-Seres).
If you are a connoisseur of Rapport, you might think about the following improvements to that section:
- Add a short note about why the game is "notable" (e.g. it decided a prize, or it was a spectacular combination, or it made a big splash in the chess press);
- Change the section title to "Notable Games";
- Add more notable Rapport games.
