Euroscepticism
[edit]Reform UK is a party that was formed as Brexit Party. The main idea of the party is to leave the European Union. As a part of Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group when they were in EU Parliament, and their strong continuous stance of opposing the EU and leading the campaign for UK to withdraw from EU. This is seen as a 'hard euroscepticism', with Reform UK being used as an example for this particular ideology.
This ideology has a significant difference from other soft eurosceptic parties that supports the existence of EU but with opposition to its certain policies, like right-wing Polish party Law and Justice, and the European United Left–Nordic Green Left, which is an alliance of the left-wing parties in the European Parliament.
Therefore, I believe it is important to highlight the difference between these two ideologies and change the information in infobox from 'Euroscepticism' to 'Hard Euroscepticism'. Jeremy Hulber (talk) 22:26, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ultimately we need to go with what sources say, and the last time this was discussed the consensus was that sources simply say "Eurosceptic".
- That said, I'm inclined to say that mentioning Europe in the ideology at all is a bit dated. Europe hasn't been a central theme of Reform's ideology for some time, so I'm inclined to remove it or add "(historical)" after it. — Czello (music) 08:14, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- In Farages maiden speech in parliament he said the current parliament is a remainers parliament https://hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2024-07-23/debates/C133D2F0-7130-4DE8-BA4D-6E04AD0F5703/details#contribution-2C5FB052-BC21-4459-B7FD-F4D027E51FE2and he still still talks about bercow blocking trying to block brexit so It would still seem to me its still a part of their ideology GothicGolem29 (talk) 03:56, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- No idea why this is up for debate. I can’t imagine any reliable source would say it’s a “soft Eurosceptic” party.
- I’d just change what it says in the infobox. It’s so obviously a Hard Eurosceptic party. DWMemories (talk) 19:14, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

- I agree they are clearly hard eurosceptic not soft GothicGolem29 (talk) 18:43, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I’ll take this as a consensus for me to change it to ‘hard eurosceptism.’ Jeremy Hulber (talk) 11:56, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Increase Reform Membership to 100,000, given their recent announcement of reaching this goal K English 06 (talk) 13:31, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. M.Bitton (talk) 01:22, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
Andrea Jenkyns is not a member of the house of lords
[edit]she should not be labelled as so in the description, as well, there is now 805 members of the house of lords https://members.parliament.uk/parties/Lords Slinky50 (talk) 15:18, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
Membership numbers
[edit]The membership has not been independently verified and has only come from Reform UK's press release. I think this needs to be stated clearly and looked into. 31.185.189.222 (talk) 17:40, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
The source already mentions it is reported by farage. And what do you mean by looked into?Itv here is happy to report it and seems to take no issue with the numbers https://www.itv.com/news/2024-11-28/people-want-something-different-how-reform-uk-has-soared-to-100000-members GothicGolem29 (talk) 19:02, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
Reform is more than simply 'Right-wing' as listed under Political position / infobox
[edit]I do not think there is sufficient evidence in the article, to describe Reform UK as a 'Right-wing' party in the infobox.
'Right-wing' by itself suggests that they are a mainstream party, similar to the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats or the Labour Party.
I don't think they should be called right-wing, seemingly because this is the safest description for them to be given. 92.13.122.219 (talk) 00:48, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- The debate over what political position they should be described as has been had numerous times before in this talk page. It is the consensus that as most major UK news publications and other sources describe the party as "Right-wing" that this is correct position for the wiki page. Add "British unionism" as an ideology
[edit]I believe that both the stances of Farage and the party alongside their electoral pact with the TUV shows that they are committed to a unionist ideology. DontForgetJeff (talk) 05:04, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- I would agree they absolutely are unionist GothicGolem29 (talk) 18:29, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
